Dr. Mark Lane Stilphen, MD

Dr. Stilphen is extremely thorough with his patients. He has compassion for his patients and gives them as much time as needed, while other physicians are more concerned with moving on to their next patients. Dr. Stilphen is very easy to talk with, and he explains everything in layman’s terms - making it easy to understand.

Out of touch, old fashioned Dr. needs re-training or retirement. Do not expect much.

I saw Dr Stilphen for the first time yesterday after being referred to him by my Primary Care Dr for treatment of my thyroid condition, Graves disease, that was diagnosed almost 40 years ago. While I did have to wait about 30 minutes to see him, I totally understand because of the influx of cold/flu patients all of the doctors are fitting into their already busy schedules. Dr. Stilphen explained to me that he would be using the computer to review my records and write comments......I get that too...I do not think I was ignored at all.....he listened to my comments, was very thorough in explaining things to me and in answering my questions. He gave me a lab slip and i had blood work done later in the afternoon. I received a call this morning from Dr Stilphen himself to review the labs and adjust my meds. I am very pleased that my PCD referred me to Dr Stilphen and look forward to working with him to get my thyroid numbers where they should be. His office staff was courteous and… efficient as well.

Felt he listened and cared about my health. I am happy to be his patient.

I have my doubts if he is even a doctor. He never looked at me or touched me. He only cared about his computer. He's a dingaling.

Dr Stilphen is one of the best Doctors I have ever had the opportunity see. On my first visit to my last he spent a great deal of time with me reviewing all my medical problems which were many. I regret having to move from the central coast and finding a new Dr. Dr. Stilphen showed great concern for my health and frequently called me at home to explain lab results or other medical concerns. I always felt that he was on top of problems as he consulted with my cardiologist and lung specialist. I found him to be very caring and concerned.

From my first visit to Dr. Stilphen, I felt like I was talking to the side of his head as he faced his computer, not me the patient, for most of the office visit. He spent a good part of the time mumbling to the computer instead of talking to me and getting to know his patient. As a new patient with 25+ years with another local Doctor who retired, Dr. Stilphen seemed like he could care less about understanding my medical history with the previous doctor. I almost felt like Dr. Stilphen was just "putting in his time" with the patient so he could justify the fee charged. I will not be specific with my own health issues but I felt when he apparently missed one very important issue, he responded in a manner that was demeaning to me, the patient, and totally unresponsive to my concerns. Finally, when I questioned billing issues from his office a few weeks after the visit, Dr. Stilphen, in no uncertain terms, indicated to me that he no longer wanted to be my Doctor. I was not shocked or… surprised at his attitude. If you want a knowledgeable, sympathetic, understanding, alert primary care physician, you would do well to look elsewhere.

I have been a diabetic for 40 years. Dr. Stilphen is the most conscientious and caring doctor that I have ever had.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. STILPHEN BECUASE HE IS ONE OF THE BEST DOCTORS IN CALIFORNIA. UNDER HIS CARE I HAVE IMPROVED MY HEALTH IN A VERY DRAMATIC WAY (I AM DIABETIC). DR. STILPHEN CARES A LOT FOR HIS PATIENTS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM.
