Dr. Mark Glenn Stokes, MD

Well, he might be a good Doctor. I had an unfortunate situation where my Northwell doctor left the health system and Doctor Stokes was recommended to me. In January I called and asked if he was taking new patients and was told yes. the first appointment could get with him was 9th May. here now it is March and I was called by his office to say that Dr. Stokes would not be in that day, and also that he is not taking new patients so my appointment was cancelled. very unprofessional to first confirm he is taking patients, making someone wait 4 1/2 months to see him, and then 2 months into the wait cancelling. As I started this with, he may be a good Doctor, but only if you actually get to see him and his office/practice is very unprofessional.

I was very disappointed with this provider. After going to him faithfully for close to 15 years, presenting no unusual problems, I suddenly developed some very unusual /disturbing symptoms. When he could not identify the cause, rather than giving me some additional referral options, he insisted on referring me to psychiatry, which just infuriated me. After that, he never followed up with me. I will never go back to him again, or any North Shore doctor or facility. I still have the disfiguring symptoms over a year after they started.

Dr. Stokes is the best doctor I have seen in years. I have an undifferentiated connective and collagen auto immune disorder and Psoriasis. Because of these things I see the Doctors often. Dr Stokes keeps up with his fellow doctors and if I ever have questions always takes the time to explain things to me. If I read about some "new" test or study and ask him if I can have a blood test or anything else he doesn't shake his head at the "internet MD" I think I am. Usually if it is a test and not something that can harm me he will explain why he thinks it is unnecessary but is always willing to try or at least research it. Because I get sick so much I often will want to know if it is even worth me going in and seeing him and he gives out his email deals with my crazy emails and tells me if I need to be seen or if he thinks it will pass on its own with rest and fluids. My only flaw is that he is a hospitalist which means when I am in the hospital I am treated by other doctors while… keeping him in the loop. I would prefer to have him in the hospital but he does not do rounds. I always know where I stand with him and when I got to other doctors for specialties and they ask who my primary is they usually know him. Some taught by him and I always hear he is such a smart man and good doctor.
