Mark Sylvester, MD

I started seeing Dr.Sylvester as a Patient for a severe eating disorder that I had been struggling with for years. I had been seeing another therapist prior that told me I was not making progress and said I should go inpatient. I was at a pretty low point in my life and was about to give up on everything. Luckily I decided to give another therapist a try and that's when I found Dr. Sylvester. I began feeling that recovery was possible. Not only did I feel very comfortable talking about a very shameful topic with him. I also felt confident in his knowledge with treating addiction. I had been loosing hope with dr .s and the whole trial and error process. Fortunitly Dr. Sylvester knew what he was talking about. He is an amazing therspist who helped me get my life back. Anyone who is struggling with addiction I can say don't give up. I was about to but thank god I gave it one more try. I have a pretty amazing life now .

I was bedridden with anxiety. Been on the psych ward 9 times. It took 15 years before I found Dr S. I have seen multiple doctors, but didn’t start to get better until I met Dr Sylvester. He is a psychopharmacologist and knows his stuff. I am sorry some have had a bad experience with him, but for me, I got my life back. I went from being house bound to volunteering, learning to play the guitar, meeting new people and looking forward to the beauty each day has to offer. Never give up. In my book Dr S is the best. But if he doesn’t work for you, keep searching. I didnt think there was any hope for me, but to my surprise and delight I got better.

Don't know what I'd have done if I hadn't found Dr. Sylvester. He is brilliant Sense of humor will catch you off guard and make feel at ease. First dr I've found who really listened to me and didn't treat me like just another customer. Also first dr who helped me get better. Love him. So handsome,,,too bad he's married!

I have been seeing Dr Sylvester for the last two years. He and his staff have been incredibly helpful since the very beginning. His staff has gone above and beyond to help with prescriptions, return phone calls, appointments and prior authorizations when needed. The Lakewood Ranch office staff has been helpful since day one.

There is no other doc in Florida who could effectively manage my pain while getting me off pain pills that were destroying my quality of life and family. I was at the end of my rope when someone recommended Dr. Sylvester and I took a chance and saw him. He treated me like a person who was suffering not an addict junkie and was so easy to talk to. And he has a great sense of humor! Felt like he really cared. After years of pain from an old injury and feeling hopeless, Dr. Sylvester single-handedly helped me reclaim my life and health.

Dr. Sylvester treats you like a family member with compassion and genuine care and concern and I always leave feeling better and lighter having talked with him. I trust his skillfulness and expertise implicitly and have felt improvement and wellbeing in my life that I never thought possible. He is a true miracle-worker.

I went to Dr. Sylvester for an opiate addiction. Great doctor, great person, will take the time (and sorry to the patients in the waiting room) to spend talking to you about what issues you are currently going through. I couldn't recommend him enough if you're trying to stay off street drugs and wanting to better your life. I'd never refer someone to him who didn't want to 100% get clean, and stay clean. He's not going to give you 4 xanax bars a day- unless you're switching from another doctor who was giving you that much, and then his next step would be to wean you down. Can't stress how great of a doctor he is; if you're willing to do your part and put in the effort to get clean.

Great doctor and funny man. I left the office laughing and felt cared for.

Exceptional doctor. I spent 10 years completely disabled from anxiety. Dr. Sylvester gave me my life back. I am so grateful. He is amazing. Such a nice person. Down to earth, and funny as heck.

OF MY DEPRESSION, AND ADVISED ME TO GET TMS, WHICH COSTS $11,000-12,000, AND INSURANCE IS NOT ACCEPTED. AFTER 6 WEEKS OF THIS TREATMENT, I WAS NO BETTER AT ALL. I THINK THIS DOCTOR DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH EXPERIENCE TO ACCURATELY DIAGNOSE THE PROBABILITY OF SUCCESS WITH SOMEONE AS DEEPLY DEPRESSED AS I. THEN, WHEN THE PROCEDURE WAS FINISHED AND THERE WAS NOTHING, HE HAD THE AUDACITY TO VERY PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVELY SUGGEST THE FAILURE WAS MY FAULT BECAUSE I WAS NEGATIVE. (ALTHOUGH HE HAD SAID AT THE ONSET THAT THE SUCCESS OR FAILURE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW THE PATIENT FELT,ETC. HE SAID IT WAS TOTALLY UP TO HOW EFFECTIVELY MY BRAIN RECEIVED RESPONDED TO THE TMS PROGRAM. THE LAST DAY HE WAS VERY RUDE, AND I LEFT HIS OFFICE IN TEARS.
