Dr. Mark John Vanhusen, MD

My spouse says likes Dr. VanHusen and been going there for about 12 years. Appointments are easy if you want to see Nurse Practioner (his aide). Spouse says hard to get to actually see Dr. Vanhusen as like busy chasing something. When you tell them where you want to pick up your Prescription (your Pharmacy) some reason they'll have it filled at the Pharmacy that is 5 miles away from your home instead of the one that is less than 2 miles or down the street. Pesronally, I don't think they know what they are doing. Oh! Forgot to mention ... he takes a lot of Medicaid (Welfare - Social Services - Public Assistance) people. Maybe he isn't very good and settles for who he can get as in the Poor folks.

absolute jerk. He doesn't listen to me at all, he has his own opinions before he even sees you. Is in and out so fast I'm surprised he has time to sit down.

I agree with other reviews that his bedside manner is off-putting. I got the impression that he was very hurried and assumed that there were many waiting patients. Making an appointment was relatively easy, however he wasn't open to my questions or concerns. He said to me, "I will ask the questions" while I was trying to explain my symptoms. Insurance companies and other people always tell me to ask questions and not be silent. Sadly, I would not recommend this doctor to a friend. I am still under his care but first impressions stick. I felt like I had done something wrong and wasn't taken seriously. I'm growing accustom to his impatience.

I thought that this doctor understood my concerns, but unbeknownst to me, I was 100% wrong. This doctor decided not to treat me for a chronic illness and didn't tell me until 3 months later when I came in for a checkup on that illness. There was no apology or ownership of the mistake. At the appointment, I was told that the way that I presented my evidence made me sound crazy. He refused to listen to my concerns about my health and refused to treat me. He cannot separate his personal bias from his professional opinion and appears to consider any question of his medical knowledge a personal assault. He's an adequate doctor if you need an antibiotic, but if you need more than that, beware!

This doctor didn't listen to all of my symptoms before misdiagnosing me, he walked out of the room while I was still talking, called his nurse stupid, was in the room less then 3 min, was rude, unprofessional and lacked bedside manner
