Dr. Mark Steven Wallace, MD

Waste of time!

I would not recommend Dr. Wallace. I had two office visits in 2019, with high expectations and at great expense due to travel from Colorado. I couldn't have been more disappointed. I have had chronic pain from peripheral neuropathy for 17 years, and was referred to Wallace by my neurologist. After a short initial visit, Dr. Wallace recommended three options for treating pain. The first two were ineffective before and during the second visit. Dr. Wallace told me that he would discuss the third, more promising treatment with another physician in the clinic, and I returned home. He recommended that I communicate with him via the UCSD Patient Portal. When I wrote the Portal to inquire about the third treatment, Dr. Wallace responded that they (UCSD Pain) would not see me again because I live out-of-state, and nothing further. I wrote asking if they thought I was a candidate for the third treatment, and if so, where else could I go for it. After several weeks with not… response, I wrote again, referring to the previous question, and I never received another response, even after I indicated that I might follow up with an administrator. I am not a vindictive person, and I don't write negative reviews except in dire circumstances. If he had responded to my Portal questions, I would not be writing this. As far as I'm concerned, this was an incomplete operation, thus the one star rating. As patients our questions should be answered, not ignored. Whatever happened to the Hippocratic Oath?

Save yourself a lot of stress and time and dont see this joke of a doctor. Doesn't care about your health, actually told me this. If you question him he will try to pull you off everything. He holds the pain meds over your head and is abusive about it. He will insult you and any other doctor that doesn't agree with him even his fellow UCSD doctors. He should not be allowed to practice. Also, dont fall for his "Smoke pot" advice. He does this because other pain Drs won't take you if you test positive for THC, its not even federally recognized as medicine.. so once you smoke it you will not be able to transfer to another pain doctor. Now that i think about it... he has never asked me how i was feeling or doing, will turn his back on you in mid-sentence and walk off.

I wish I never met this man I wish I never met this person hes a most uncompassionate person I've ever met. Hes one of those individuals that will never support you never listen to you and will never understand your chronic pain issues when is a pain therapist. You'll turn your back on you and not even answer a question walk out of the Room and if he tried to get him to answer anything he'll negatively report you on your medical charts to protect his a**. His final line is federal regulations not the patient he doesn't care.

He will push weed.. pot.. on you then not care when other drs cant support you because you smoke pot on his orders... dont fall for his scam to keep you lock in his abusive hands...

Worse dr..he will throw you under the bus if it means its easier for him. Don't question him or ask questions specially if you question his medical advice. Doest understand basic medical problems and doesn't care too. He Acually said that.
