Dr. Mark Weinstein | Board Certified Allergy & Immunologist
Dr. Weinstein is a board-certified pediatric allergist and immunologist whose clinical, research and teaching activities span more than two decades. Known for both his patient-centered care and his contributions to allergy research, Dr. Weinstein has built a reputation as a leader in his field.
Background and Education
Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Weinstein developed an early fascination with the sciences. He graduated with honors from the University of Chicago, where he earned dual majors in Geophysical Sciences and Biological Sciences. He then received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey–New Jersey Medical School (now Rutgers-NJMS).
Postgraduate Training
Following medical school, Dr. Weinstein completed his Pediatrics residency at Rutgers-NJMS. He remained at the same institution for fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology, during which he served as Chief …Fellow and as President of the Residency Council, helping to design curricular enhancements and mentor his peers.
Research and Awards
Dr. Weinstein’s research has focused primarily on urticaria (hives) and the immunologic mechanisms underlying allergic disease. In 2008, he was honored with the Clemens von Pirquet Award from the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology for his work on chronic urticaria. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on topics ranging from chronic urticaria to environmental drivers of allergy, and he has been invited to present nationally—most notably on the impact of climate change on pollen levels in the New York metropolitan area at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology annual meeting.
Professional Leadership
In 2013 Dr. Weinstein was elected president of the New Jersey Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Society, a role he held through 2015. During his term, he collaborated with regional and national allergy societies to advance clinician education and to help shape patient-care guidelines.
Academic Appointment
Dr. Weinstein holds an appointment as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. In this capacity, he actively mentors medical students, residents and allergy fellows, and participates in the development of new training programs.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Weinstein provides comprehensive evaluation and management of the full spectrum of allergic and immunologic conditions. His services include diagnosis and treatment of seasonal and environmental allergies, asthma management and education, sinusitis and chronic sinus care (including nasal polyps and rhinosinusitis), food, medication and latex allergies, insect sting hypersensitivity, ocular allergies, urticaria and angioedema, and disorders of the immune system.
