Dr. Mark Anthony Yocono, MD

I have been a patient of DR.Yocono for the last 2 years. My experience with his office staff, at best, is lousy ! Not even even once I was able to get in touch with the office staff (anyone including his medical assistant or scheduler) ) on telephone. Neither do they answer phones nor do the return your calls. It has happened almost all the time during my 2 years with him. Plus they do not post your results on the Medical portal if they are from outside labs which is a handicap for patients who choose to get their blood work done by outside labs as a matter of convenience. I am not sure if Albany Med itself is like this. But I had enough experiences with Albany Med as whole. I strongly recommend that you avoid going to doctors whose practice is affiliated with Albany Med ! Highly unprofessional and discourteous office staff !

Excellent office visit w Dr Y..he was very interested and proactive with my concerns about my pre-diabeyes and reversing the potential condition...his advice and years of experience was most helpful with me reversing my condition...I highly recommend Dr Y...I was very surprised at the negative reviews and comments but I seen that they were from patients with multiple long term issues and complaints...he was very attentive and concerned about me which made me feel great and motivated to help myself with my new diet and exercise plan he recommended for me...I have nothing but a 5 STAR REVIEW FOR DR Y..check him out!

I was very surprised to see less than stellar ratings of Dr. Yocono on this site. I happened upon it when I was looking for the phone number for help with renewal of my prescription since we changed insurances. I have been a patient for 4+ years and Dr. Yocono is professional and thorough with my thyroid issues. At times he has included additional tests on my blood since I have other challenges and emailed me the results as soon as he received them. Doctors are very busy - they see a lot of patients during the day, yet I have found Dr. Yocono to be attentive to my condition while ensuring that my medications are update and current to what I need. I will "ditto" another review by RW on 1/26/13 that this Dr. is dismissive, uninterested and clearly not there to assist his patients. The experience has had a lasting impact on my seeking help of specialist. I sought out Endo because of multiple issues after being diagnosed Hypothyroid. Struggling with energy, weight, and wondering if levels were correct given family history and diffuculty of my siblings being diagnosed with appropriate testing. Instead of being re-assuring, helpful and guiding me in finding help and understanding I was left feeling dismissed, demoralized and diminished. I can't tell you how many times I have recalled this experience and felt awful. Never bothered to really ask me about my symptoms. Never asked about level of activity etc. but instead told me I obviously wasn't working out hard enough...I just "think" I am. No recommendations and as with the other reviewer I felt he looking for more reasons to not continue seeing me or ask for follow up. If… you value your health..physical and mental........don't see this Dr.

He may know his "stuff" and lots about technology but lacks even a pretense of care/concern. Automated answering and waiting around for a return call is very annoying.

Dr Yocono is always cheerful and easy to talk with about any subject whether it be cars, sports or my health.

The only time this doctor actually probed how I was doing as if he cared was when he had a trainee accompanying him on his rounds. After a year with him, I finally asked if he was ever going to check my feet (diabetes). He performed only the test I requested and again, I waited and waited for follow-up from his "couldn't-care-less" assistant. I also left an important request with her to ask the dr. a question for me, but got no reply. When I saw him at the next visit, he told me he had never received the question. In a word, he was not pro-active about my health, and was content to do the bare minimum. It seems like the Endocrine Group might be something like a factory.

After waiting almost 4 months to get an appointment (recommended by my PCP & Cardiologist to see an endocrinologist), I found Dr. Yocono's attitude to be dismissive. He didn't seem to take anything I said seriously and from the beginning of the appointment seemed to want to find ANY reason to pass on my care to someone else. Despite having had two other physicians express concern for on-going medical problems which may have been hormonally related, Dr. Yocono seemed only interested in finding a reason to NOT see me. He did ONE blood test (thyroid) and then did not have the courtesy to relay the result to me himself or schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss "what to do next". Instead, a rather abrupt and rude office assistant named Cynthia, left a message on a non-private answering machine, telling me that "Dr. Yococo said your thyroid test was normal... in fact it wasn't even close to being abnormal! He said he doesn't need to see you again so don't make any follow up… appointments." Her tone was derisive and you could almost hear her laughing as she "read the report". It would have been nice to "know what the results were and to ask the doctor what I should do next (as the symptoms that caused two other doctors to ask me to see an endocrinologist had not abated)... and I must assume an endocrinologist tests for more than "JUST" thyroid problems... I tried calling twice to speak with him and/or the office manager to resolve this... both times getting voice mail, with no one ever returning my calls. Very disappointed with this rude and uncaring treatment. It was obvious from the first moment that I saw Dr. Yocono that he was not interested in treating me, by some of the comment he made. I could have saved myself the cost of the appointment, travel and the 4 month-long wait for an appointment if I had known "up front" he was just looking for participants in his "clinical trials".

I travel 220 miles and have no r:egrets

I travel 216 miles and pay thruway costs to get there but he is worth it. Wonderful Doctor and great man.
