Dr. Mark Frederick Yurek, MD

Dr. Yurek is knowledgeable and kind. He takes time to listen and goes the extra mile to help.

When I first met him for a check up he was such a kind man and we talked for a while about life in general. He talked about his life and gave me some wonderful advice. Because of him I actually chose my career choice to become a family practitioner just like him and to inspire others.

Dr. Yurek is one of the few practicing physicians that actually puts his heart into practicing medicine. He listens without judgement, and is effective with his choice of treatment. He is quick to respond to immediate needs and always spends ample time during appointments. UPMC is lucky to have him. I have full trust and faith in Yurek and would recommend him to family and friends. Some doctors could learn a thing or two from him and it starts with simple compassion for the patients you are treating and not what type of insurance they have, or meeting quotas. I am fortunate to have Dr. Yurek as my doctor and I will never see anyone else. Physician’s main concern should be compassion, care and concern when treating patients. Most seem to just be running a business. Not Dr. Yurek. He’s kind, humble, and extremely knowledgeable.

I was a patient of his when he was in the chambersburg area : I do admit I do miss him since moved out of the area!

I have gone to Dr. Yurek since I was a child and I have never once felt uncomfortable or disrespected. He has always told me the truth and provides some type of wisdom when I speak with him. I would recommend him!

The wait time is out of control. I got there as his first appt after lunch and waited over 80 mins to see him. I said to him about the wait, he responded did I want quality or quantity. I saw him when I pulled in he was coming back from lunch and could hear him as I waited just talking and hanging out. They have no normal hours and close the office without telling their patients, so you call to pick up a pres they say ok it will be ready after a time during the week. But then you go and they are closed they never tell you when you call, oh by the way this is what our week hours are for this week. Each week it changes and the a answering services has no idea of the hours. Sometimes the rx is not signed you find that out at the pharmacy. Or you go to pick up after your told they are ready only to find it's not and you sit until he comes out of the room which could be an hour for him to sign the rx. He forces his polical views and religion on people. I will never go back to see him! He… is a one man show so if he is out of the office, but does have a back up, just try getting that name from the staff. Now the staff there is one girl who is very nasty. ! Even after your told rx is ready she is still very smart to you. The other girls are very sweet.

Dr. Yurek was very professional and got me in right away as,I was not well. He followed up next day with a phone,call to see how I was doing. He was very kind, caring and concerned. Like him a lot!

wait time is terrible

This doctor was suggested to me by a friend. She said he was a great doctor and that I would love him. So I made my appointment which was very easy to do, but I was not impressed with the receptionist that handled my call. She seemed stressed and annoyed but I made my appointment anyway. I arrived for my first appointment and waited for over two hours and given that there were only two other patients waiting, the wait was ridiculous for having little patients. The waiting room was stuffy and very outdated. I finally made it into the exam room and was disappointed with the nurse that checked me in. She was rude and seemed uneducated, let alone made me feel like I was a burden. While waiting in the exam room (which was another hour wait so three hours total so far, waiting) I heard yelling in the hallway so I went to the door and listened. I was COMPLETELY appalled with the way the Doctor was speaking to his nurse. She must of really made him mad because he was swearing, swearing… loudly!! And speaking to her like she was his child that got caught doing a bad deed. I was ready to walk out at this point but low and behold the Doctor walked into the room, finally! Dr. Yurek was nice and professional but would only discuss one of my health issues and told me I had to make another appointment to discuss my other issues. Seriously?? Needless to say I am not returning to this office and I will not refer anyone to come here. Such a disappointment with his treatment of staff and lack of priority for his patients.

He will only see you for one issue only he makes you have another appointment. I waited 2hrs today to be seen. The nurses dont know how to properly bill my insurance co. Very sad customer service is the worst.
