Dr Marla A. Reckart, MD

WORST doctor ever. Have filed grievance w/ medical foundation. This doctor caused multiple tragedies in our loved ones life by pulling her off and on randomly meds and ignoring her symptoms. Do NOT use this psychiatrist until any circumstances.

Dr. Reckart is the worst psychiatrist ever. She says inappropriate things to patients, totally pulls folks off their meds w/o substitution and generally does more harm than good. Do NOT see this doctor if you want to get well. If I could give zero stars I would.

I am a patient of Dr. Reckart's at PAMF. The office and staff are courteous and patient. As for the doctor, she is intelligent, practical and compassionate. When you are a person who struggles with mental health issues, it is important to find a doctor that you feel comfortable with. One thing I suffer from is OCD, and it can make navigating daily life very difficult. She suggested practical things I might do to alleviate some of my behaviors, and they do work. She also suggested a book that I did read, and it offered good suggestions for gaining control over my compulsion. She recognized that I was the type of person who would consider her suggestions and could benefit from the book. Of course there were meds, but she tracked and adjusted them as needed. She is also discrete and thoughtful. One time I told her something embarrassing, and she said she would only put a general note and not the specific details. I appreciated that, and really the details were not important so I… appreciate the omission. I recommend Dr. Reckart for the above reasons. Also, I think it takes energy or interest to leave a review, and most people only leave reviews when they are dissatisfied or unhappy about their treatment. I am leaving this review, and I rarely do so, because I suggested Dr. Reckart to friend and she said the reviews were not great, which surprised me because I have only received helpful and attentive care from her.

I called to make an appointment. The receptionist put me on hold. Demanded to know who I am then claimed the doctor had no voicemail. Fraudulent as can be. Do not do business with these people.

I saw marla for over a year and a half and have had really nothing but bad experiences with her.The first time i saw her she asked me alot of very personal and inappropriate questions seemingly just to make me feel bad. She never seemed to take what I said seriously or have much understanding about what I was going through even though I would describe to her in alot of detail what was going on with me every time I saw her. She always seemed to lack empathy and compassion and was very demanding.She put me on a very large list of meds during the time that I saw her and none of them provided any relief for me at all.It seemed to be a complete guessing game for her when it came to prescribing meds.I would say to anyone thinking about seeing marla reckart as a psychiatrist to reconsider and spare yourself that pain on top of the pain caused by the condition or conditions you already suffer from.

As some others have said, she tends to flip-flop with drugs, does not even tell you ahead of time that she is changing them. And if she asks you to do something and you comply, then she acts startled because she verbally will tell you she is surprised you actually followed her instructions. What she tells you to do can be harmful, and her instructions to do something have no rhyme or reason. She also changes medications without discussing them, she doesn't seem to know that much about medication and how they work, nor does she ask about critical physical factors and background information to see if a medication is appropriate. She has been condescending, does not listen well, and she probably has some serious issues of her own, because her behavior is not normal. She is a very mercurial individual and you never know when she will take you off a medication, or put you on something that can be harmful to you, and doesn't listen to the patient. She does not ask questions about your… health history, and likes to switch you on and off meds that work and "to see" how a different one would be. Her knowledge of what a medication actually does and its adverse effects is pretty much nil. My guess is that she discusses her patients outside of the office. She does not appear to have true empathy, and my guess is that she has personal issues of her own that overflow into her practice, which, sadly, impact and hurt her patients.

Dr. Reckert does not treat patients thoroughly and proactively. She is willy-nilly about either pulling a patient entirely off meds or not juggling as needed. Our daughter expressed suicidal thoughts and she did not want to see her for a month during which she self medicated and relapsed into drug addiction. This happened TWICE with this doctor. NOT a good doctor.

This doctor is very warm, practical and thorough.

I saw Marla for almost 10 years. During that time she added drug after drug... until I ended up hospitalized to detox off her prescribed medications. And she misdiagnosed me as major depression and anxiety (GAD). My true diagnosis is PTSD and so glad she left Arizona because I probably would sue her.
