Dr. Marlene Bluestein, MD

One of Tucsons best!!

Dr. Bluestein is an excellent doctor. She had been attentive to my concerns and needs. A major drawback is that she only has office hours 2 days a week and when you can get in to see her, she's very busy.

I saw Dr. Bluestein at the TMC Senior Services Assessment. She listened attentively and made me feel very at ease in discussing my concerns. She enlightened me as to what my real issue is and suggested ways to address it. I am happy to have her report to take to my primary doctor.

My mother is a patient of Dr. Bluestein and recently had a sever and critical change in mental status. We took her to the doctor and after her appointment her mental state worsened. We immediately began to call the doctor to notify her of the change. The doctor did not return a single phone call on Monday when we originally called. She did not return either of the two phone calls we made on Tuesday. Since we recieved no reply from the doctor, we decided to take my mom to the ER. Finally at 5:30 PM on Tuesday Dr. Bluestein's assistant called (doctor couldn't even call us herself). So far we are completely unimpressed with her care and lack of follow-up.

Dr. Bluestein is very caring but not very available. She is so rushed that she forgets to ask the staff to set up appointments or give lab orders. She is really not very thorough any more and expects you to see specialists for most of your complaints. Then her staff calls to see if you feel better!! It's too bad because she really is very experienced and very intelligent.

Only seeing patients 2 days a week you get lost in the shuffle.There are so many mistakes made over the labs,etc that it makes you think she is not a thorough doctor. you can call and the staff now tells you to go on the internet!

The thoroughness was simply wonderful.

Dr. Bluestein makes you feel that she is very concerned about your wellbeing and listens to your questions and concerns. However...she is really hampered by having to pay attention to typing the electronic medical records which make her seem distant and preoccupied. Being the wife of a physician I can tell you that she has no choice- nor does she have any control over the poor way her office is run.She choses the medication she prescribes prudently and unfortunately gets rushed by her assistants !

I'm a 69 y.o. female and have been seen by several different doctors from the west coast to the east and in between. Dr. Bluestein is a wonderful, knowledgeable person who truly cares about my situation and took spent considerable time with me, asking questions and, when she wasn't sure of the answer, took the time to research. Her staff, including her med. asst., are a joke and embarrassment to the profession. I'm seriously considering finding another M.D. just because I loathe talking to the staff. On several occasions I was chastised for picking up an RX, because I was told by the med. asst. that it had been mailed. In fact, what had been mailed to me was not my RX request but a referral for bloodwork! And in the 2+ yrs. I've been coming to Dr. B. there's been a 75% turnover, except, of course, for the med. asst. So sad to see a great doctor with such a crappy staff! If you can endure that, you'll love Dr. Bluestein!!
