Dr. Marsha Wayne Billes, DO

I started seeing Dr. Billes last year and searching long and hard for a new doctor. The first thing I noticed is that she doesn't rush you thru an examination. She listens, takes notes, asks questions and really explains in detail what's going on with your body. I didn't feel like I had to rush to explain what was going on so she could get to the next patient.

I started going to see Dr. Billes approx 10 yrs ago. She has been with me and treated me through some of the most difficult years of my life, primarily hormonally driven. She has provided various options and solutions. As she transitions into another specialty of medicine, I am saddened but grateful. She supported and treated me through a great deal. Her knowledge and desire to obtain all of the appropriate information to ensure that she is treating the underlying issues and not just symptoms, will always resonate with me. Thank you!

Every since the government mandated that physicians switch to electronic records, I have noticed that only Dr. Billes' office has been able to adapt. Sure I do wait for my appointments, but that's what you get when you want to see a great doctor like Dr. Billes. A truly awesome doctor with a brilliant bedside manner.

I called is office so I could get a prescription first I called and she put me on hold for about 10 minutes so I hung up and called back and was put on hold again so I told her no I would not go on hold and she started running her mouth so I asked to speak to a manager she transferred me to a voicemail. so I called back about 6 times no one would answer my phone call when they finally answered "casie" had every excuse in the book I don't care what the excuse is so I asked her how I obtain my records she said I have to pay for them we crock of crap I will not pay for my own medical records that is just nuts!! I told her she can just throw away my file she said thank you really service here SUCKS!!! STAY AWAY!!!

Let me start off by stating the doctors in this South Lyon office are excellent! The problem is with the woman in charge of doing the referrals. I have phoned and left several messages with her in regards to questions about the referral process. The communication is severely lacking in her department! I didn't hear back from her after leaving four messages in five days. I phoned on the sixth day and spoke to the receptionist about getting my lab results that were supposed to be on the portal. Since I had her on the phone I asked to speak to the referral girl (I won't mention her name). After holding 11 minutes she finally picked the phone up and spoke with that high, condescending voice that assured me she was agitated with me because that is not her normal voice. She was VERY RUDE and non professional. I have military insurance and have to drive 1 & 1/2 hours one way to this doctor's office. I do not expect to be treated in such a way. It has now been two days since I talked to the… receptionist about getting my lab results up on the portal...she assured me she would call me back by 1430 the same day...two days later still no word from her; but at least SHE was nice! I plan on sharing this with the doctor the next time I'm seen.

I am writing this review because someone needs to. First of all I was a nurse and know a little about the changes going on in the medical profession. Secondly, I am very sick and during the escalation of my illness I, like many, had an insurance change. I got assigned to Dr. Billes, who knew nothing of my illness before my visit. I arrived for my appointment and the staff was very receptive. They obtained all the information that is now necessary by the government. The informed me that the doctor was running about 15 minutes behind and then gave me a bunch of paperwork to complete. The waiting room has newer chairs and was playing some nice 80's music but a bit small. The office was very busy and the staff appeared very on top of things. I completed my paperwork and was then informed of my co-pay which I did not know I had. The receptionist printed out the benefit information for me. It showed a $20 co-pay and I paid by credit card. The receptionist thanked me and told me a medical… assistant would be bringing me back shortly. My wait was about 20 minutes before I got back to a room. The medical assistant introduced herself by name took my blood pressure, pulse, and apologized for any delay. She told me that the conversion to electronic medical records and the new obamacare stuff was creating slow downs and problems for medical offices but that Dr. Billes would be in shortly. The Northville building was newly carpeted and had granite counters in the rooms. The exam table was a bit older but in good shape. The facility was quite clean. Dr. Billes saw me about 10 minutes later and she was very nice. She spent a good 30 minutes with me and reviewed all my medical care. She set up referrals for my specialists, refilled all my medications, and gave me forms to complete so that she could get all my old records. When my visit was complete I notified her that I was so happy with my visit and couldn't say enough about the practice. Her partner Dr. Bloch even had stepped in to introduce himself to me and welcome me to the practice. I told Dr. Billes that I had read a few reviews on this site and was going to change her as my assigned provider and I was sure glad I didn't. I told her the only thing I felt accurate with other reviews was the exam table was a bit older. She laughed and told me that in another room there is an antique table from 1904 that Dr. Bloch keeps because it was his partners, it's cool, and holds sentimental value to him. I thanked her for her time and she told me she wanted to see me in 2 weeks, after she gets my old records, to discuss my medical condition further. As she was leaving I realized I didn't have any prescriptions given to me. I asked her for them she explained all my prescriptions should be at the pharmacy. "they were sent digitally". She told me that the government has required all doctors offices to prescribe medication by computer but that her office as are many are experiencing some problems with the pharmacies and to call back if there is a problem. She also told me that my new insurance plan may have a problem with one of the medications I was prescribed by my previous doctor and to call if the pharmacy rejected any prescriptions. Dr. Billes could not have been more helpful because when I got to the pharmacy, sure enough my prescription for Diovan was not covered. I called and left a message with a receptionist and she told me it may take up to two days for the doctor to try to get it authorized by my insurance company. 2 days later I was informed that the insurance company would not pay for it and Dr. Billes attempt to get a prior authorization was denied. Dr. Billes did call in a replacement medication and my blood pressure was fine and my out of pocket cost decreased $60/month. Before I left the office I checked out and was given a summary of my visit on a piece of paper and the receptionist set up my referral to my cardiologist and my return visit to Dr. Billes. Hence, my experience with this office was nothing short of wonderful. The wait was what should be expected for a very busy and good doctor, the building was elegant with older and newer look throughout but definitely not dirty, the staff was extremely busy but not rude or inattentive, and the reviews on this site are alarming and should be viewed with caution. Some people are just plane angry. Our health care system is broken. We are paying higher insurance costs and getting so much less but our doctors are doing so much more and they get all our frustrations even when the problem is not theirs. People need to understand the costs they are paying, the extended wait times in doctor's office, and the problems with electronic websites are not controlled by our physicians.

Thing is Dr Billes seems to be a very caring and sincere Doctor. She spent time with me and really tried to get to the root cause of my illnesses. The problem that I have had repeatedly is her staff at front desk and on phone. OMG. they had screwed up my insurance information more than once , there is this one girl who takes your info when you first come in, a blonde young lady, and she is totally unprofessional. I heard her complaining about work matters in front of us patients. Not the thing you would expect for a doctor's office...more like the behavior one sees at a local gym. She also did not listen to the order of my insurances which caused me hours of phone calls to straiten out my bills with insurance companies. I also do not get call backs until a week or more. The assistants who see you in the room are fine. I have had to stop going to her and am upset as i felt she was good but with the lack of proper staff I worried for my health and did not have time to keep correcting… their mistakes. a real SHAME.

I've been going to Dr. Billes for 7 yrs I would never choose anyone else... Dr. Billes and her staff make you feel like family... I appreciate her and all that she do... She is great at her job...

I have been going to Dr Billes since I moved to MI a little over a year ago. In that time her service has gotten worse and worse. If I am not waiting in the waiting room I am waiting in a patient room. She sends in other people to hear why I am there, then comes in at the last minute to give her diagnosis - even though she has not heard a word I have said. I did not want to start over, but it is not worth it to go to her, since she does not help me at all. I would not recommend her at all. Very disappointing.

The office acknowledges that they overbook appointments - every 15 mins. Everytime I've seen this office I've waited over an hour to get less than 5 mins. with Dr. Billes who seems confused and not personable. She orders unnecessary medical tests, rather than spending time with patients. I had 3 unnecessary follow ups with specialists who all thought my visit was unnecessary and wondered why Dr. Billes had referred me to them rather than following standard protocol. I blew 3 days of missing work and $100 in copays to confirm that nothing was wrong and Dr. Billes didn't LISTEN to me. I have since changed PCP's and am much more satisfied. This office and staff are rude. They don't have any communication with the physicians in the practice and have no confidentiality in their outdated office. They have exam rooms in closets, 50-year old exam table, and overall dirty facilities. My family members used to see Dr. Billes and all had a similar experience, including lost lab results and… no communication. AVOID. There are much better physicians out there.
