Dr. Marsha Helen Kay, MD

Dr. Kay has her old-fashioned ways but her ways work! Many of her patients see her for many years, and she has helped me to get my life back. She is not exactly warm and fuzzy but she definitely cares about her patients.

I have been bringing my son to see Dr. Kay for several years. We come every six weeks for an infusion and when she passes by us she won't even acknowledge us. It is so hard to get an appointment. I usually wait 20 minutes on hold until someone will speak with me. The front desk ladies are not friendly in person or on the phone. After years of this we are changing doctors and hospitals.

Saw her for procedure for my son~ was kind and thorough:) would recommend.

I came to Dr. Kay for a second opion after initially seeing a doctor at Children's Hospital in Dayton. I liked her demeanor and personality right away. I felt like she had an accurate diagnosis and put me on the correct medications. Even though she is a pediatric doctor, she saw me up until I was 24 which was fantastic. Now I am 28 and if I could go back to her I would. She seemed very personable, knowledgeable, compassionate and would field any questions with pleasure. We had two appointments a year and got one colonoscopy every seven years. This was nice because we all know how expensive medical bills can be. Our appointments would be short, sweet and direct which I loved. I would highly recommend her to anyone and I wish you all the best of luck in your search for a doctor!

My son had an appointment with this doctor for a scan. I was referred ONLY for a scan for my son..instead she ordered a slew of tests and made her "diagnosis" from the previous doctors notes. "No scan needed...no chance of cancer. The ONLY reason your doctor would have wanted this scan is because they are looking for cancer..." She said this in front of my teenage son....I couldn't believe anyone (let alone a pediatric doctor) would speak this way in front of my teenager. On the way home he asked us if he had cancer,,,,I told him that we are not going back to see that doctor again. We had to wait at least an hour and half in a small, hot office. Our time with the doctor, bloodwork ect ended up being at the clinic for 4 hours 45 minutes. Since then we have a new doctor at Akron Childrens and have been treated better, the doctor is finding out what's wrong with my son's stomach. You asked me to rate the doctor by how many stars...is there a way to choose less than one star?????

Dr. Kay is very knowledgeable in her field. As my son is 14, she interacts mostly with him, which I like. He has to feel like he has some control over his disease. She takes as long as she needs in appointments and her test summaries are prompt. Very satisfied. Would recommend

I came to Dr. Kay after experiencing several months of chronic nausea. She paid literally no attention to this symptom, which was by far the most debilitating. She did not give me medication to help with this (except some prevacid, which has hardly made a difference), and she only performed a few tests on me. After my colonoscopy and endoscopy were negative, her attitude towards me worsened. My fiance and I realized that she was not taking me seriously at all - it seemed as though she believed my problems to be mental, and caused by anxiety (I now know that this is certainly not the case). She also was INCREDIBLY judgmental that I came to her instead of an adult doctor, even after I explained that I heard the gastrointestinal pediatric department was very good (I was still 20 then, and I wanted the best care).Dr. Kay also completely ignored my very serious immune condition, which can cause various gastrointestinal issues. There are numerous other issues that I have encountered… with her - too many to list. The most important problem, though, is that she did not thoroughly test me enough. She didn't even get me a gallbladder scan, one of the most important tests to receive when others don't show much. I am now seeing another CCF gastro doctor (adult) who is taking my case MUCH more seriously.Let me be clear - it has been many months, and I have had to take a whole semester off due to these stomach issues. I am convinced that if I had seen another doctor when all of this started, I would be enrolling next semester.
