Dr. Marshall Mandelkern, MD

Dr. Mandelkern is very intelligent. He is a product of Yale. However, in my opinion, he is a little on the distant side, paternalistic, and lacking in empathy.

Dr. Mandelkern is very gifted at what he does. I have gone to him for many years and he has helped me immensely. He will frustrate you occasionally, as he won't answer your questions for his opinion sometimes. He wants you to seek the answers within you. This has led to my clarifying issues within me which I needed to clarify. His presence is patient, accepting, non-judgemental, warm and consistent. He is very good about keeping boundaries consistent and clear. I could not recommend him more highly.

This is a very unhygienic environment and distracting when you are trying to disclose personal experiences that brought you into this office. I felt like bringing a box of qtips to my next appointment. Disgusting. Also, a little judgy. May want to help but it takes action, not sitting around pitying a person and judging them while cleaning out the crud in one's ear. Felt like no growth was accomplished during the months of appointment. Most growth was felt when I said 'Bye Felicia' and left his care.

My impressions of Dr. Mandelkern was that he is very intelligent and observant. He tried to help me with the medication that was causing me to have a weight problem. It's been over thirteen years that I last saw him. I wish him the best.

Dr. Mandelkern is very childish and inexperienced in worldly matters. Narrow-minded and thoughtless. Caught him in a lie during my appointment. Made a good impression when I first met him, but as half a year spent as his patient, I discovered over that time, Dr. Mandelkern had very little insight to offer my life.

His office is stuck in the 60's. His head is stuck up his you know what. Terrible psychiatrist. So judgmental, and clueless. Not comforting to talk to at all. I would never recommend him if you have any problems. Lies occasionally when asked questions. Very boring person. He consistently picked his ear when I would talk and I was super grossed out.

he's great. if one of his patients are hospitalized he will not let you go unless he thinks your are ready and stable to live the hospital. the idea to this is that you will not have to come some many times to the hospital. the one thing i experience with Dr.Mandelkern is the fact is that he does not budge from a decision. once a decision is made weather it is a med change or hours for a pass what he says goes. he was very tough on me sometimes because he only did it for my well bieng. i sure do miss him very much. i recommend aby one to him because of his nature to get you to talk about how you feel.
