Dr. Martha Marie Cavazos, MD

My early childhood summers were spent working in my fathers Family Practice clinic in San Antonio, Texas. The prevalence of diabetes in the community struck me at an early age and first stirred my interest in Endocrinology and Diabetes. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Texas in Austin and went on to medical school at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston before moving to San Francisco. After completing a residency in Internal Medicine, I stayed on at the University of California San Francisco to do a Fellowship in Endocrinology. My research focus during my Fellowship was on the Genetics of Obesity. Ashland has been my home since I completed my Fellowship. During my first four years in Ashland, I worked in General Endocrinology in Medford and as a Hospitalist at Ashland Hospital. I am pleased to continue my work at Ashland Hospital as a General Endocrinologist in the Ashland Center for Internal Medicine. My interests included Diabetes, …Thyroid disease, Osteoporosis and Bone Health, Pituitary and Adrenal disease and other conditions of Hormone Imbalance as well as Fine Needle Biopsy of Thyroid Nodules under ultrasound guidance. I am enjoying family life in Ashland and have found it to be a wonderful place to raise out two young children. In my spare time, I enjoy cycling, cross-country skiing and bird watching.
