Dr. Martha C. Sola-Visner, MD

Dr. Martha Sola-Visner, MD, is Director of the Newborn Medicine Clinical Research Program in the Division of Newborn Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and an associate professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Internationally recognized for her expertise in neonatal-perinatal medicine, she specializes in thrombocytopenia, neonatal transfusion medicine, platelet biology, prematurity, and hematologic disorders affecting critically ill newborns. Dr. Sola-Visner earned her medical degree from the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil in Ecuador and completed her pediatric residency and neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship at the University of Florida. In addition to her clinical leadership in neonatal intensive care, she leads a prominent translational research program focused on neonatal platelet function, transfusion practices, and improving outcomes for premature and critically ill infants.
