Summary
 Dr Martin Barley graduated from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1958, and after a tour in the Navy, began practice in St Mary's County MD, in 1962. In 1975 he began volunteering for short-term missions, first to Haiti, with his family. Dr Barley, accompanied by his wonderful wife Betsy, now leads a team of physicians, dentists, and auxiliaries on annual mission trips, serving in Honduras or Guatemala. As the volunteer dentist at Hoffman Memorial Clinic in Smith Island, MD, he goes by boat to serve the watermen and their families on this island in Chesapeake Bay. Dr Barley was instrumental in founding the Pastoral Counseling Center of Southern Maryland and St Mary's County Study Clubs. He holds a mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry and is a life member of the Christian Dental Society and the Christian Medical-Dental Association. Dr Barley is a Fellow in the American and International College of Dentists. After serving twenty eight-years of …combined active and reserve duty, Dr Barley retired at the rank of Captain from the united States Navy Dental Corps and continues his practice in Leonardtown, MD.
