Dr. Martin Joel Book, DO

Dr. Book is an incredible doctor. He has been my therapist to treat my ADHD since I was 14 and I am now almost 29. His patience, intelligence, and understanding of the mind is vast and brilliant. As someone who moved away from Bethesda 6 years ago, I can't find anyone as great as he in my new city and take our sessions via phone. I will recommend him to everyone who needs a psychiatrist.

We have been seeing Dr. Book for 20 years for a variety of issues. He understanding, caring and a genius. He is unbelievable in getting to the heart of any issue and developing a positive resolution quickly. In 20 years we have never once regretted seeing him.

Knowledgeable and very kind, attentive to his patients. Available when the patient is in crisis.

Dr. Book is one of the best therapists I have had, and I know others speak well of him. He is calming as he listens, and very receptive to the patients words, allowing the patient time and a feeling of comfort and importance as the patient speaks. His excellent knowledge and understanding of his area is evident in the therapy he provides for his patients; but the skill with which he combines his knowledge with his own, innate talent of dealing with and interacting with patients makes him exceptional. I highly recommend Dr. Book. Getting an initial appointment may not be immediate, sometimes, due to his frequent patients, but the office staff assists well in finding openings for new patients, as available, and is very helpful with setting up regular meetings.

I was lucky enough to be treated by Dr. Book through a referral by the CEO of another prominent specialty center. I have had severe ADHD my entire life, and seen dozens of doctors including a year-round study at NAHB. I can honestly say that Dr. Book is the most knowledgable and professional of all the doctors that I have dealt with, and although the hourly fees are expensive compared to other providers, the returns in sanity are very worth the investment. My only constructive feedback would be it would be helpful to have some sort of access to email or a voicemail, but I am assuming they don't have those b/c there are too many crazy patients who would be over the top. If you have the ability to be accepted as a patient, I highly recommend it.
