Dr. Martin Olanoff, MD

I was unable to see Dr. Olanoff, so I cannot comment on his ability as a Dr. However, I would like to comment on his demeanor and attitude which is appalling. For starters I made an appointment on ZocDoc, which for anyone who uses the site knows that it lets the dr know right away they have an appointment and the dr approves it. I received a phone call within 5 minutes of making the appointment on ZocDoc from Dr. Olanoff himself. With no pleasantries he very rudely told me his fees and that he didn’t accept insurance. Told me credit, debit, cash or check, just straight to money. Then, and only then did he ask what my problem was, and yes in those exact words, “what my problem was”. I proceeded to tell him my situation and he said abruptly “ok..... tomorrow at 10 is good and we will see what we can do”. Not feeling super comfortable with those words or his unnecessary attitude I accepted the appointment. I mean it was the time I scheduled on ZocDoc. Fast forward to later that same… evening. My 13 year old dog went into heart failure and I had to rush him to the vet and put him to sleep unexpectedly. I didn’t get home until well after 7 pm. I did call his office number which just goes to what sounds like an old 1987 voicemail recorder and left a message. I then did what all of us do in 2019 who make appointments on ZocDoc and rescheduled the appointment to Monday. I heard nothing back and assumed all was good. I mean let me remind you he called me within 5 minutes of making the initial appointment, so obviously ZocDoc notified him. Anywho, moving forward. I received a phone call at 10:19 am this morning which I initially missed because I was up all night crying. I finally called Dr. Olanoff back to which I was met with complete and utter disgustingly aggressive behavior. He yelled at me for not calling him and when I tried to say I did and that I apologize but my dog passed away and so I had to reschedule he said “whatever I don’t care. I’m busy in the middle of something call me later.” and hung up on me. That’s right, a professional medically trained doctor who took an oath yelled at a woman with stage IV breast cancer who just lost her 13 year old dog which I’ve had since he was born and hung up on me. In complete shock I let it go. I then called him back at around 3:43 pm today and he proceeded to tempest himself like I was a child. He said I should have called. I said I did, he stated he didn’t hear a voicemail. I said I use ZocDoc and they let you know when an appointment is changed. He said no one lets me know life doesn’t work that way. I disagreed since ZocDoc clearly advised him of my initial appointment. He said “he didn’t care, that I should have called”. I profusely apologized and started to say again the situation to which he cut me off, raised his voice and yelled at the top of his lungs into the phone “YOU ALREADY SAID THAT, I DON’T CARE”. He then said “call me next week maybe I can make an appointment for you, maybe not. We’ll see.....” and then hung up on me. This man should not have a license. The only reason he acted the way he did was because he lost out on my cash from the appointment. If he hadn’t cut me off, screamed at me and given me a chance to speak I would have offered to pay him for the appointment for today, as well as, my appointment on Monday. But alas he was too concerned with being a complete and utter piece of you know what. My advice to you is to run far and fast to another dr. There are hundreds and hundreds of doctors to go see. Do not see this man. I can only think the great reviews were done by him or people that are his friends if he has any. I can’t imagine anyone who would put up with that treatment. If he treated me, a person he doesn’t know, on the phone like that I can only imagine how he’d treat you as a patient. I will also be reporting a complaint to his medical license. Maybe it’s time for Dr. Olanoff to retire.

He is a very good doctor. He really cares about his patients. He also knows how to diagnose a problem well.
