he and dr john chabot saved my husband from a stage 4 stomach cancer diagnosed as a death sentence of 2 to 3 months to live at 35 years old. we spent months with him and both he and his staff were incredible. thank god if you get to have these people in your corner. my husband leonard is today 10 years cancer free. jaime anakalea.

Dr Oster has been a great Dr in helping me with my Cancer.

I took my brother to see Dr Oster who was referred to me thru a friend. Our initial appointment was fast and thorough. My brother went to 5 rounds of chemo. Dr Oster seemed very unattached. He pretty much said chemo or die. He did not think outside the box at all. Everything I mentioned as far as studies or different tests he responded 'I don't know anything about 'or 'I've never heard of that'. He could have been more aggressive and give patients some more hope...

After hearing good things about this doctor, I expected much more. He rushed me during the visit, did not make make much eye contact, and seemed very disinterested in me. I am more than a diagnosis, which is how he treated me. I will definitely be switching to a different oncologist.

I have been a patient of Dr. Oster for 14 years. While several of my family members and friends have passed away from cancer while being treated by other oncologists at other highly rated NYC hospitals, I have remained cancer-free since my initial diagnosis in 1997. At that time, I had been to several physicians who could not figure out what was wrong as I became sicker and sicker. Dr. Oster, however, made an immediate and accurate diagnosis, referred me to an outstanding surgeon, and then prescribed a chemotherapy regimen that worked. Since then, when I have experienced far less serious ailments, Dr. Oster has returned my calls instantly and been extremely conscientious no matter how small a medical complaint I might have. He and his staff never hesitate to respond to my questions, and they take precautions to make sure that I follow up on any potential medical threat. Dr. Oster is not a man of many words-- but he says what needs to be said and suggests tests and procedures that… need to be done. Many people die of what I had in 1997. Not only do I credit Dr. Oster for having saved my life; he has taken the necessary steps to keep me healthy ever since.

I have been dealing with this doctor for almost 3 years now. On the plus side he has the experience & good school education. On the downside, this doctor does not really take charge of his patient situation. He is not straight to the point as to what exactly your prognosis is and he expects the patient to be making the decisions on how to proceed, without explaining what the consequences would be. He speaks in a very gentle but unemotional manner, which when I first met him seemed like a good thing. But now I think of him as very detached & cold. Cancer patients need someone who can take charge of our case, someone who can really explain the exact condition with all its pros & cons either directly to the patient or to the family members. Dr. Oster is not this type of Doctor. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Very smart but did not spend enough time with my family communicating the seriousness of my family member's situation. Did not tell us importtant details about her illness. At a key decision point he did not thoroughly explain the status of cancer and pros And cons of continuing treatment.
