Dr. Martin Edwin Thomas Sievert, MD

I had the misfortune of seeing him last week, on the 6 week anniversary of my emotional support dog's death. I told him that I'd been struggling, but that I wanted to stay on my medications since the combination I was on worked fine before she died. He had the nerve to tell me that I needed to find a silver lining in my dog's death and that if her death was bothering me so much there were clearly other issues going on in my life because it shouldn't upset me that much! Who says that? Is that what he says when parents lose children? I hope not. He's supposed to help in times of crisis and he made me feel worse. He also pushed me to switch up my medications even though I repeatedly said I didn't want to. He was very pushy about one medication that's supposed to help with nightmares that I'd been on before and reacted badly to. When I took the medication it made my nightmares worse and it also made it so I couldn't wake up. He told me that wasn't possible (it is, there are studies on this… side effect) and that I just needed a higher dose. When I refused to go back on it, he acted like I was unreasonable. He then proceeded to take me off a medication for sleep and anxiety, even though I had told him I didn't want to change my meds. He replaced it with 2 other medications. I asked if either had any side effects. He said not really, but I found that hard to believe. When the appointment was finished, I Googled both of the medications that he prescribed for me and it turns out they have side effects, very serious side effects. One of the medications even has a serious interaction with a different medication that I'm on that could cause a heart problem. The other medication he prescribed for me has a main side effect of causing migraines. I already get migraines basically every day so I don't need to be on a medication that can make them worse. He is careless, he's unethical, he lies to his patients, he makes them feel worse, he minimizes the pain that they are feeling, and he doesn't listen. He thinks he knows everything and he doesn't. He also talked about taking me off several of my meds the next time he sees me, even though I told him once again that I was not okay with that. Needless to say, I will not be seeing him again and I made sure to file a complaint because no doctor should treat their patient the way he treated me. If you're going to see him, be prepared to feel much worse after you leave.
