Dr. Martin Wohl has been an active dentist and member of communities in Western Massachusetts for nearly thirty years.  Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Brooklyn College. Martin has always been a very physically active; participating in sports throughout his early years and continuing in his twenties to focus on the sport of fencing in particular. In college he was named All American for epee fencing.
After graduating college he moved to Washington DC where he attended Georgetown School of Dentistry.  Martin graduated from Georgetown having earned the award for  "Best Demonstration of Humanistic Qualities in Patient Care". His unique approach to patient care and chairside attention has continued to be a foundation of his practice.  A strong sense of social responsibility has always guided Martin in his career, and the first years out of dental school were spent providing care in a mother and infant center in …Washington, DC. He also traveled to the Dominican Republic on a dental service trip during his years in Washington. Martin left Washington with his new wife, Marisa, to join the National Health Service Corps in Estancia, New Mexico. For three years he practiced as the sole dental provider for the rural Southwest area while he and Marisa grew their family by having two daughters (Ariana and Carina).  Since their families were both still living in the East, Martin and Marisa brought their world to the East Coast in 1981, finding Northampton a good place to start. Martin was the dentist at the Worthington Community Health Center and later founded the dental department at the Huntington Community Health Center. He practiced at both locations and had part-time hours at a UMass clinic as well as seeing patients in Northampton one day a week. After eleven years  in the area (and the addition of a son, Michael, to the family in 1985), Martin opened the Silk Mill office and grew to practice exclusively at this location while still maintaining strong ties with hilltown communities. 
Martin's 19 years in the Silk Mill have not only been committed to providing caring, attentive, quality dental care, but he has continued his dedication to continuity of care and long-term relationships with patients as neighbors and as friends. Support of local arts, schools, and community development have been hugely important in his vision as a member of the community. Just one of the many efforts he has initiated and supported is his leadership in the establishment of the Northampton Public School Endowment.
