Dr. Marvin Carl Covey Jr, MD

I resisted the Oxycontin and morphine for two years. I live four hours away and had to reschedule frequently. Only one time my Rx count was off because of spilling the Rx pills in the car and at home in my bed. Yes I liked Dr.Covey and staff, but the procedures were expensive and when we lost BCBS insurance and had to use Humana Insurance his office rejected it. I paid cash for several visits but I guess that wasn't enough. I see now the office accepts Humana. I was amazed that he and his staff actually encouraged increasing the pain Rxs. I liked Dr. Covey but the office procedures were lacking in the Humanity department. Many procedures were done and helped me. I practically paid for the indoor pool and college his family enjoyed,lol. Dr Covey I still like you, but I am still suffering and I am moving back to the Little Rock Arkansas area asap.

I absolutely adore Dr. Covey. He genuinely cares about his patients. He is easy to talk to and listens carefully as well. However, they are VERY busy. Because GP doctors are becoming more and more restricted by laws regarding pain management, doctors who DO treat pain are horribly overcrowded. I find that if I make my appointment first thing in the morning, the wait isn't so bad, but by the afternoon, they are usually 1-3 hours behind schedule. This can really try your patience, especially when you are in a lot of pain and sitting for a long time. Some of the staff are wonderful, but some at reception just aren't. Overall, I've stayed with him for about ten years and in that time have received wonderful care after years of getting the runaround from other doctors who couldn't be bothered to try to figure out how to help me. So I guess my overriding opinion is that Dr. Covey is worth some occasional frustration and can recommend him for anyone who sincerely needs pain management.

I have been seeing dr covey for 10 yrs now. i have recomended him to many ppl i care about. when i first started i asked him if we could start on the lowest dose possible of the meds cause i don't like taking pills n he agreed n he has alwsys taken time to listen to anything I'm dealing with. its comforting to know there's a dr who cares about his patients. yes it takes a while for ur appt but he has patients from other states that drive to see him so i understand. yes he's office stays budy cause when u go to hI'm u will. b ok with it cause he's such a great dr. the nurses r nice also to me. i recommend anyone to come to dr covey because he's a rare dr that truly cares n will work until he gets u to feeling a lot better

I love seeing Dr covey. I've been a pt for 3 years now and I've also known him for about 14 years. The office he used to be at was horrible. The staff was rude, they dropped the ball on everything, you could never get a call back, and the wait time was horrible. He moved to a new office and now it's wonderful. There were a few kinks in the beginning but that was expected. He's always fully answered all my questions and as a back pain pt himself he fully understands the pain we are in. This last year he was out of network for my ins but I refused to switch to anyone else. He worked with me and understood that I was limited as to what procedures and when I could afford them. I will never switch as long as he is practicing!

very easy to get rid of his patient ...simlpe ...i don't take ur insurance ...ur out ...after years of milking the money out of the same patient

The Doctor was nice, staff was nice, and the wait was a little long, but over all I was satisfide. The medicince he was supposed to send to my pharmacy on Monday still wasn't received by my pharmacy on Wed. so I called Dr. Covey's office and left a message. The doctor didnt do a very good job of explaining anything, but he seemed to be in a hurry to move on. I had some more questions for him, if he had only cared to ask. I did like his personality, just wish he had slowed down a little. I would have asked him a few things. these doctors need to stop taking on so many patients if they dont have time for the ones they have.

I was not allowed to see the Dr because I ONLY arrived 10 minutes prior to my appt. It had taken me almost 7 weeks to get my appointment and in that time I had called 3 times to request a new patient information packet. 2 of those times I was told that the packet had already been sent. Today when I arrived I went to the front desk and asked for the new patient forms to fill out and was told out that I would have to re-schedule because I was not there 30 minutes before my appointment to fill out my paperwork. I really feel there was no sense to be turned away especially when I had requested them 3 times over 7 times before

You better be ready to wait... and if your appointment time is 3:00 you have to be there 30 min. before or you wont be seen, here is an ideal...if you want someone there 30 min. (why don't know because always going to wait over an hour) well make the apt. time for 30 min. early... apt. should be your time to be there..Office staff are rude... no job ethic's, they need to go back to class and learn how to be professional!!! They act like they hate their job, and if you ask them a question, you are putting them out.. Dr. is good, he just needs to rethink his staff... maybe clean house and start over...

I do not recommend this doctor! My wait time is horrendous, the bedside manner of the doctor is non-existent, the office staff is rude, the scheduling dept. and the front desk staff don't work together. I've showed up on three scheduled appts, and the front desk has said on those occasions that my appt was the day before, after I had confirmed it the day before! I've paid for their mistakes, and have only seen the doctor twice since being referred to him almost two years ago. During a short visit, he cuts me off and seems to be in a big hurry to get to another patient. All my questions are never completely answered to my satisfaction either, or are dismissed. I was mis-led by the doctor and his asst. that a pain pump implant was the way to go, and it's given me nothing but problems with the pump running dry way too fast, and not being able to see him in time before I went into withdrawal, I and was not informed that only he or his asst could fix any problems with the pump, which is… very scary! What if I ran dry while on vacation?. I'm looking for another doctor at the moment.
