Dr. Marvin James Derrick, MD

Dr. Derrick went out of his way to remove film and fluid from my lungs on Sunday even though he had to wait for an operating room. My chest tubes were remove by Physicians Assistant John who kept Dr. Derrick informed of my progress. I am gratefull for these two men and the staff at Carle. Thank you Eugene H. Niemerg

My mother Mary Bradshaw was seen by Dr. Derrick re: cancer in her right Lung, her Cancer Dr. stated that she would not survive the surgery due to her health. Under Dr. Derricks care she did survive and she wasn't on a ventilator nor did she come home with oxygen. My mother had her upper and middle lobe removed. The best part was the Dr. Derrick didn't give himself the credit the credit was given to God. Thank you to Dr. Derrick and his staff. ( our long wait was due to him having an emergency to attend to)

I was up and about 1 day after 4 vessel CABG. Put my mind at ease prior to and after the surgery. I have full confidence on his skills and this was more pronounced with my quick recovery. One of the best if not the best cardio thoracic / vascular surgeon in the country. Did off pump CABG on me. Outstanding skills.

I would refer him to anyone. Couldn't ask for a better Dr.

My cardiologist set me up with Dr. Derrick after a sonogram. I didn't know what was going on. Dr. Derrick reviewed everything with me on what he wanted to do and why. I felt very comfortable and better understood the whats and whys.

For patients, motivation is key, and few things are more motivating than seeing your heart surgeon exercising alongside you, in cardiac rehab. Dr. Derrick talks AND walks the walk.

He really saved my life!! If he wouldn't have operated on me when he did, I would be dead, literally. I can't thank him enough for what he did.

Dr. Derrick has always made me feel comfortable and he is very informative. Very pleasant and easy to talk to.

Dr. Derrick is very friendly and personable. What I appreciate the most is his attention to detail and thoroughness, while also keeping me clearly informed of all that has transpired and possibilities of what to expect. Dr. Derrick leaves no questions unanswered and even provides information and understanding of some things i had not considered or was not aware of. I would not hesitate the least in recommending Dr. Derrick to others.

He doesn't want to followup on his patients after surgery.
