Dr. Marvin S Garelick, DO

Though it’s been years since I’ve seen him, I was a regular patient for several years. I left on bad terms after two unpleasant experiences. The first was that the receptionist used to refill my Rx, and I’d just stop and pick it up. In those days it was still paper Rxs. One time I came in to see the doctor, and he started yelling that he was not going to treat me if I didnt take my Rx. I asked him what he was talking about, since I took it every day. He said I hadnt been in to see him in a year, so my Rx must have run out nine months ago. I told him, no, I call your receptionist, and then pick up the new Rx from her. He then started yelling at the receptionist in front of me “Mr xxx says that you write prescriptions and sign my name to them!” Which was not even what i said since i had no idea who signed the Rxs. I actually felt bad for the receptionist, and of course she denied the whole thing, lol. The second incident was when the doctor got a phone call from an insurance company when… i was there. The same receptionist said “the insurance company is on the line about Mrs xxx”. The doctor then says “who is mrs xxx?”. The receptionist says “she’s the one with....” and goes on to name three horrible diseases/conditions that no one would want to have. I thought it off that he wouldn’t remember a patient with three serious conditions. He then got on the phone with the insurance company rep with me right there, and basically said “oh, you don’t want to pay for this test and that test? She’s dying anyway” i was floored that he would discuss another patients health in front of me, do it so callously, and not even remember who the patient is by name. A serious level of unprofessionalism here, and very brusque.

Always treated courteously and they know every family member/ patient by name when you come in to the office.
