With those biases out of the way, I would like to offer a rather harrowing review of this doctor. I arrived in the emergency room with intense, but manageable pain whilst I breathed or ambulated my left side post 2 weeks in a high-speed motorcycle crash. After listening to my chest, taking a deep breath, my left side popped and crunched in such a way that left me howling and screaming in triage, utterly sobbing from the hot, searing pain that radiated from my left chest to my shoulders- such an intense experience my fingers and hands felt numb. I do not believe she caused this, nor in any way intended for my symptoms to intensify; I had presented to the same ER a week prior where my condition was thoroughly evaluated and identified- the lack of alleviation and worsening of my symptoms brought me back to the ER. I need to say the nursing staff was lovely, and very kind- minus one male nurse- and did their best to keep me updated and tend to my symptoms. They did little to treat the… pain, and I while I had managed to limit the pain by shallow breaths and keeping my left side still and maintaining a relatively upright posture- there was nothing else offered in wake of answers, testing, pain management, nor seeing her face.Now, as mentioned prior, I had the very same ER give me a solid, significant diagnoses and sent me home with very helpful information, a device to keep my lungs in check, and overall felt like I was receiving actual health care. Imagine the sort of insult it'd come when a doctor, who has access to my medical chart, wants to treat a lung issues with what they did- because by her own words- the pain could be heart burn?Strange. I really have no words, and it took me several days to really process and break this down with my partner and a nurse who doesn't work at the same campus. I know sometimes they need to throw everything at the wall, and yes most medications are entirely safe. I have a lung related diagnosis that they are already working that is presenting with worsening symptoms, and she gives me stomach medicine. I was sobbing, curled up in a bed because every time I would breathe or move, it felt as if I was being stabbed in my chest. Was my pain not taken seriously because it's a Seattle hospital? Does that then mean she isn't willing to manage, treat, and help patients because of her personal beliefs of this city, and those whom come into her ER? Maybe I am just still physically hurting, still personally and emotionally upset with the way I was treated, but I think it's scary that someone can dictate the level of care you receive because of their own personal beliefs. Medicine isn't personal. I think it is worth mentioning that I had a nursing assistant- not sure if that's the right term, but they had a different color outfit than most- approached me with caution to suggest I do seek another ER or my PCP as they themselves at been seen at this ER and treated for a condition that was also entirely unrelated to their situation. Never have I been approached by say, a cook at a restaurant, to tell me the food is bad. After finally seeing the dr, I expressed how I felt, and I'll say that yes- she did listen. Only then did I feel, after five hours of holding myself in a bed, that we made progress; That progress was her arriving to the same conclusion as the week prior. This was expected, what wasn't expected was it taking all of this time to come to the same conclusion rather than treating the worsening of the symptom you knew of immediately.
