Summary
I chose occupational medicine for the excitement of investigating real mysteries and discovering new work-related illnesses; luckily for all of us, there aren't many of these. Also, I found helping people get back to work after ordinary injuries to be very satisfying. Every job has its own physical demands and every patient is an expert on his or her own job. My challenge is to learn what the patient's job requires and figure out work restrictions and treatment that allow a safe return to work. In my spare time, I like to grow flowers, fruits and vegetables and to rehabilitate bad parrots.
