Dr. Mary Kathryn Barnett, MD

This outfit is extremely unprofessional. Extremely poor unprofessional medical care was demonstrated by Dr Barnett and the staff at AFP. When you need to refill prescriptions, they have you call into an automated system. No one confirms receipt of the call. There is no acknowledgement by any staff your needs are being met. On several occasions there were issues filling my prescriptions to the point where I had to go a few days without my medications. This included medication which is normally refilled for 6 month periods without having to involve the office every time. It got so bad that after several warnings I twice had to report this practice to the NYS Board of Medical Conduct. Investigation is currently pending. Not the entire staff but a good amount of the employees are extremely unprofessional. When I voiced my complaint to the establishment I was refused further treatment. I would suggest going to another doctor if you are considering seeing Dr Barnett. From my dealings with… her and the staff at Amsterdam Family Practice I would suggest avoiding them. There are plenty of professional doctors out there. This is NOT one of them

Dr. Barnett misdiagnosed me for two years, instead of taking time to listen to what was going on with me, she brushed it off as fibromyalgia when in reality I had gallstones that were easily taken care of. She also misdiagnosed a broken foot leading to me walking on it for 6 months making it worse and requiring a specialist. I do not feel comfortable allowing her to treat me, or anyone I care about.
