Dr. Mary M Bonar, DO

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Bonar at West Penn ED. Despite having a severe facial rash, she did no testing nor offered any treatment. She did not even look at the pictures I had taken to show the progression of my rash over the last 24 hours. Instead, she made me wait in the room for two hours and informed me I'd need to go see my dermatologist after reception had already came by to collect my co-pay. There is no treatment that my derms office offers that cannot be done at West Penn ED. In fact, I will now need to wait weeks to do my bloodwork bc they cannot do blood work at my derms office.

Very disappointed and upset by my visit with Dr Bonar. My concerns were not taken seriously and she spoke to me in a condescending way. She told me she was worried about being sued so she could not advise me on treatment and it was up to me. 100% would not recommend.

Dr. Bonar showed a level of professionalism that is seldom seen in an emergency room room setting. Her care of my wife, Rosanne (Roz), was wonderful and was only hampered by the extraneous rules placed on her by the hospital. She, along with her assisting nurse, Samantha,(Sam), treated my wife as a person to be helped not something that was interfering with her personal time. Above all, Dr. Bonar took the time to truly listen to both my wife and me and did not immediately have an agenda that needed to be filled. I became apparent she loved her chosen profession and the patients to which she was administering care. Plus, when she was drawn away watching over tests, her nurse, Sam, picked up the mantle of caring for my wife. I just can't say enough positive accolades about Dr. Bonar and her assisting nurse, "Sam". Thank you, Ralph J Baker, II with and for Rosanne S Baker

Terrible experience with this physician. She should be required to undergo customer service training and be re-educated in pain management.

No one likes going to the ER. It is busy and scary and uncomfortable. That being said, Dr. Bonar made our experience in the Harrisburg ER as good as it possibly could have been. Her bedside manner was fantastic, and she really put us at ease. She took the time to really listen to us, explain what the plan was, and answered all of our questions. She really took good care of my husband and I would have her take care of any of my friends or family in a heartbeat if we ever land in the ER again!

Was very helpful and kind in the care of my husband. Made me feel comfortable and OK with a very difficult decision regarding the care of my husband. Would definately recommend if I had to be an ER patient.

Mary, or should I say, Dr. Bonar had the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced with a physician! She was extremely condescending and treated us as though she was sitting on a pedestal and we needed to bow down to her every move. She was more concerned about telling us that we may someday "sue" her than to actually pay attention to us as the patient she was to be treating and explaining conditions to. Overall worst experience I have ever had in the ER! Do everything possible to avoid this awful woman!
