Dr. Mary Elizabeth Bongiovi, MD

I have never left a review for a doctor before, but in this case it feels important to share my experience. I was Dr. Bongiovi's patient for over two months in her inpatient unit. It was a harmful experience. While there were other patients there who had very positive things to say about her, she belittled and shamed me. Dr. Bongiovi regularly said things to me that are inappropriate for a doctor to say to a patient. She negatively compared me to my fellow patients who she was also treating. She is very smart--it would almost be easier if she wasn't. But I do believe that there is a streak of sadism in her that, while it might not express itself towards all of her patients, definitely targets some. Are there some insights I learned from her about myself? Yes. But I didn't deserve the treatment that she gave me. I hope that her future patients will not share the personality traits that caused her to be often frustrated and sometimes just cruel towards me. I hope to get over this … experience; and I hope others can avoid what I went through.

Ms. "Dr." Bongiovi runs a failed hellhole. Zero reply to simple inquiries about our loved one's medical status & discharge options, despite the patient having a young child at home. A wild waste of NY taxpayers' hard-earned money.

Dr. Mary Bongiovi was my psychiatrist during a recent inpatient hospitalization. She is very knowledgeable, personable, empathetic and sensitive. Her manner is very direct and she was very focused on helping me as well as my family. She was instrumental in my recovery and I am grateful to have had her as my doctor.

Dr. Bongiovi warrants zero stars, but this system won't allow that rating. I came to her with concerns about my care under her watch. In return I received a shockingly unprofessional degree of snark and a string of insults. Her diatribe still echoes in my head. I'll never know how Dr. Bongiovi has achieved her level of professional success, but it must have more to do with power-grabs than with pure intent. It's a travesty of justice that she's entrusted with the care of people trying to heal, and that she has no immediate superiors at NYSPI. If you know someone who says they've been mistreated by Dr. Bongiovi, for god's sake, believe them.

World needs to know . She is a absolutely horrible. A patient died under her unethical unfeeling care. She left a patient in restraints for days. Poor kid suffered blood blots and died. My heart goes out to him and his grieving family. She should never be able to practice medicine and in prison.

Dr. Bongiovi's insight, frankness and intelligence was an enormous help to me and I remain grateful to have been put in her care. I cannot recommend her strongly enough.

This unethical person wouldn't call her a doctor is not straight and man hater. As a result she is abusive and unfeeling. I should know I was on her unit cared horribly for a few months
