Dr. Mary Langer Bowman, MD

In short my experience with Dr. Bowman's office has made me loose complete faith in her judgement and the competence of her practice. the long story...I left my appointment very happy with Dr Bowman. I felt like she took in interest in my overall health. She recommended some preventative testing just to be sure everything was ok. However what leads me to writing a one star review is how I was treated after the appointment. Three months after my appointment I received a bill in the mail from UC Health for nearly $500, it had to have been from my appointment with Dr Bowman as I have never used any other UC Health Provider. My first inclination was to call my health insurance provider to find out why they didn't cover standard preventative testing, turns out they do cover it 100%, turns out the billing department at the office had made a coding error billing it as diagnostic rather than preventative. I called the number on my bill and they opened a review of the account. Almost a month… letter I get a call saying that my account has been reviewed, I called back to find out that they had done NOTHING other than confirm that the codes entered in their system were the codes sent to the health insurance company. However, they were still the wrong codes!!!! I have spent countless hours on the phone with them to resolve this issue. The billing department told me I had to talk to the medical office and the medical office either put the phone down or transferred me back to billing. They were threatening to put me to collections. I persevered and spoke to the practice manager to find that indeed the codes were incorrect. I'm hoping at this point that the office manager has resolved the problem as she has promised and I will not end up in collections for an error that they have now freely admitted was their fault. This entire experience has left me with little trust in Dr. Bowman and her practice. This experience has left me wondering if the tests were ordered as a way to generate income for her office under the assumption my insurance would cover it yet the office lacked the empathy to ensure that I was not left with a $500 out of pocket bill and a bad credit score.
