Dr. Colpoys was the best primary care physician I have ever had. I'm sad she left the practice in Old Lyme because now I will have to find a new physician elsewhere. She always took an adequate amount of time with me, which is hard for a doctor to do in a busy primary care practice. She was never hesitant to refer me to a specialist for a consult, which is an important thing for a PCP or general practitioner to know when to do as it is not a specialist role but a 'jack of all trades, master of none' kind of thing. The breadth of Dr. Colpoys' knowledge is excellent. As she got to know me, and my level of intelligence and interest, she explained things to me and answered my questions in greater and greater detail. I never left her office feeling that my concerns went unheard or that I didn't understand what was going on. I have been to a lot of physicians that 'dumb things down' when talking to patients and act like taking the time to give a detailed explanation is beneath them or… that they believe the patient won't understand anyway. Not Dr. Colpoys though. She is very thorough. I don't need a doctor to be caring and nurturing, but to be thorough, efficient, and accurate. She fit the bill, and I miss her. dr. colpoys is now in practice in old lyme, ct. i wanted a dr in the practice and she was the only one available. i was initially pleased, however, over time, her bedside manner has stayed flat, and other patients have told me she is condescending with them. the practice has a good rep, but she needs to improve her attitude. i will probably be leaving the practice
