Dr. Mary Patricia Demers, DO

I was seeing Dr. Demers for a chronic illness that required monthly check ins. Unrelated to my illness I started losing weight. Every month I was losing 5-10 pounds. In spite of eating more calorie rich food, my weight kept dropping. After the third straight month of weight loss I expressed concern to Dr. Demers at EVERY appointment, she kept saying nothing could be done until I was technically underweight! No tests were done to find the cause, no treatments suggested, nothing. Once my BMI was technically “underweight” she advised me to drink Ensure between meals!! It wasn’t until I’d lost nearly 1/2 my body weight (175# down to 95# at 5’9”) that Demers finally advised me to go to the ER!!! I was immediately admitted and it took 5+ months of IV nutrition & fat to finally start to recover. I have a friend that was also a patient of Demers, she kept complaining to her about rectal bleeding, finally after a full year of continued bleeding Demers sent my friend for a colonoscopy - she… had had colon cancer the entire time! It’s crazy! We rely on our doctors to watch out for us. I was too sick to realize how bad off I was getting and I trusted Dr. Demers... She needs to be investigated by the medical board.
