Dr. Mary Margaret Desch, MD

Completely over-medicated me and when I had terrible side effects, would not return my messages. Also found her to be very condescending with poor bedside manner. Her staff was rude and not helpful at a time when I needed much more compassion and follow-up care.

Mary Desch is an awful awful person (wont even say doctor)...Battling depression and anxiety for years I was on zoloft and ativan PRN. When i went to my first appointment she stated that I was severely depressed and that I needed to seek inpatient treatment (mind you, i see a therapist weekly, who has never thought that and said I was fine with outpatient therapy).. She then stated either I go to inpatient or she would refuse to be my psychiatrist. Fine by me... Walked out and never looked back! Don't waste your time.

Dr. Mary Desch is a wonderful physician. She is caring and highly intelligent, as evidenced by her certifications in both Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry. I highly recommend her. I do not understand some of the other reviews on this page. I encourage anyone to see her and formulate their own opinion.

I have seen Dr. Desch for a few years. I began seeing her after being stable on medication, mainly for medication maintenance. She has been very agreeable and in our conversations demonstrates significant knowledge. I had a few medication changes and, although I did my own research before our session, I was satisfied with the changes. After seeing her for a few years, I have actually been able to reduce the amount of medication(s) prescribed. I am unsure about the angry reviews on this page because I have had no such interactions with Dr. Desch. One thing to consider, though, is that she is less warm and has a more austere presentation. She maintains a very business like demeanor throughout sessions. She is also knowledgable about addiction recovery. My sessions (except the first one) were almost exclusively 15 minutes long. She has reduced her insurance coverage and as such, I am discontinuing treatment with her. I have no other reason to do so.

I have to wonder if "Nick" is actually a friend of Desch's or perhaps even Desch herself, her alter ego. The entire "review" is a knee-jerk reaction to the abundant reviews that aptly refer to Desch as "rude". It reads more like a defense, as opposed to a review. When you work with the public, you have to have certain social graces. If not, then don't wonder why people take the time to complain about you or find another profession. If you don't like the word "rude", there are a host of other words that fit the demeanor of this woman: crass, crude, unrefined, brash, tactless, vulgar, gruff and some other words that cannot be printed here. There are a few comments that refer to her thinking everyone is an addict. Gee, maybe that is because of her past drug addictions. She thinks everyone thinks like her. So this clouds her ability to judge each person individually. Not everyone is a drug addict.

This doctor is extremely rude and unprofessional. She will cheat and lie about anything just to make a quick buck from either the patient or the insurance company. This doctor needs to be investigate for her fraudulent activity. RUDE RUDE RUDE.

Dr. Mary Desch is a very competent psychiatrist. She comes highly recommended from various psychologists. She is very clinical, which may come off as cold to some. But she has accurately diagnosed and worked with me to find medication that allowed me to get ahold of my depression. Remember she is working to TREAT you, not coddle you. Another reviewer mentioned Disciplinary action from the minnesota medical board. 1st thing to point out is that was 22 years ago!! 2nd she handled her issue directly and above board. When is was resolved she got her licence back. If anything that adds to her character, it does not diminish it.

this doctor is accepting new patients because nobody wants to return to her office. She is insanely rude.

Dr. Desch is always prompt and keeps every appointment to 15 minutes, which is probably necessary to make enough to make up for the little reimbursements by the insurance companies so she can pay her staff and rent, etc. I have not had any personality/attitude conflicts with Dr. Desch. She has been polite and no she is not warm and cozy but neither is my PCP. When I have had special problems her staff has gotten back to me in a decent amount of time and gotten me into the office within a day or two. I have to say that although her staff always seems unhappy and quiet, they are polite. I would definitely refer her to family and friends.

Mary M Desch, MD is the most self centered, self serving, dishonest, imoral, rude doctor on the earth. She is a liar! She did an independent medical exam. However, she copied some of her report from documents that had already been writing by a previous doctor. If you want to burn money and not get anything in return, go see Mar M Desch! She is only in her office to take your money. She could care less about the patient!
