Dr. Mary Ellen Stanisci, PhD

This sad excuse of a health professional has fueled so much interpersonal drama between my parents and I over the years, and has caused me significant pain and suffering.

My sessions with Dr. S were the most miserable, toxic therapy sessions I’ve ever endured. I found her to be scattered, judgmental, and unfeeling throughout. She seemed very out of touch with current trends in psych, alluding to extreme ideas like that self-esteem is evil and that everyone must humble themselves before a higher power in life. Additionally there was a pious, religious slant that kept creeping in which was really irritating since I’m personally not religious and absolutely don’t believe everyone needs to devote themselves to a higher power to live a happy, prosperous life. It’s incredible that in 2022 you can still come across therapists who not only believe in such absurd and dangerous schools of thought, but are actively teaching them to others. By the end, I strongly disagreed with practically every “insight” Dr. S had to offer and knew then that her approach was incompatible for me and what I want out of life. Unless you are a deeply devout religious… individual who believes that you’d benefit from having no self-esteem, I’d look elsewhere. There are plenty of better options in the area with empathetic and creative approaches to actually address your individual needs.

I have been dealing with severe sleep issues: trouble falling asleep for 5-6+ hours, frequent awakenings (often every hour), and occasionally going 48 hour periods with no sleep at all. Dr. Stanisci has been extremely helpful in curing this problem. Her advice has been top-notch. I love that she utilizes a natural, logical approach via cognitive therapy techniques rather than immediately pursuing the pharmaceutical route. My sleep hygiene is significantly improved as a result of her counseling and thus the overall quality of my sleep as well. This doctor is both caring and very knowledgeable in her field. She clearly takes an interest in helping you.
