Dr. Mary E Gaffney, DO

I had a terrIble experience with this Dr. She appeared to know what she was doing She must have liked to type and prescribe unnecessary expensive medications. I had several appointments with this Dr due to allergy concerns. She had several test ran on me. She asked me if I had a problem with alcohol. I’d never been asked that question however I had consumed a few drinks that prior weekend.. She had an outside company that visited her office weekly test me for allergies, I was new to Charlotte the trees could have been an issue. She also sent me to Charlotte ent where they ended up putting a plug in my ear that helped my hearing loss. The outside office that tested me for allergies came back saying that I was allergic to several things including my dogs. They began giving me injections every week that did not help. I told Dr Gaffney every week that the shots and none of the medication prescribed were helping. She continued prescribing medications. During treatment I had an emergency… that caused me to return to Ny. By this time I could pass no air in or out of my nose. My eyes were black, my voice sounded abnormal and the knot on my forehead had gotten larger and painful. I ended up seeing a Dr in Ny and was immediately sent for a 2nd opinion at the cancer hospital. Not long after I was diagnosed with a rare form of follicular lymphoma in stage 3. I was advised that I had a large lymph node blocking my nasal pharynx causing me not to be able to breathe the black eyes and the knot on my forehead. I began chemo right away. I’ve been able to breathe since . I feel that Dr Gaffney was negligent with my care. I feel that if she could tell that I had a drink in the beginning of my treatment, she should have been able to see that something more serious was wrong. She caused my treatment to be prolonged. I have no idea what I was being injected with by this company visiting her office. I still have my dogs I hope that I never experienced a Dr like her again. She is not thorough. To make matters worse worst when I requested my medical records. Her husband refused to give them to me without a lawyer requesting them. If your considering being treated by her go somewhere else!

Dr. Gaffney has been my primary physician for over 20 years! She is extremely knowledgeable and caring of all her patients. I never feel rushed when I come into the office she takes her time and is thorough. Satisfied with my Dr.

I absolutely love Dr. Mary Gaffney! She is truly a great doctor in every sense of the word. From the moment I met her, I could feel how attentive, caring, and genuinely invested she was in my wellbeing. She doesn’t just check boxes—she listens, she understands, and she speaks the truth with so much compassion. Dr. Gaffney isn’t afraid to tell me the tough stuff I didn’t necessarily want to hear about my health and my weight, but she does it with love, kindness, and a real desire to see me healthy and thriving. That kind of honesty wrapped in compassion is rare these days. I was referred by a friend who told me she was the greatest doctor ever—and now I see exactly why. Finding a doctor like her has been an absolute joy. I’m so grateful to be under her care. Highly, highly recommended!

Absolute WORST experience. Wouldn't recommend to anyone

DR. Gaffney is an extremely gifted doctor who treats all of her patients with committed competency, respect and dignity. I trust my life in her hands. She truly cares about her patients and provides the best medical treatment in Charlotte!!!

Dr Gaffney Is the absolute worst physician ever. She is very rude to patients and staff. This lady is Ghetto. Not sure how this place is still operating. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. This place is just out for the money...not about the patients and caring for them. I wouldn't even give them a star, but system doesn't allow for anything else.

I am new to Charlotte and was looking for a primary care doctor. I found Dr. Gaffney online.. I immediately chose her because she excepted my insurance. Needless to say, I should have read the reviews and done more research. My initial thought when arriving at Dr. Gaffney office was not a good feeling. The building and area seemed unsafe, the reception area dark and gringy looking. I stayed to give the Doctor the benefit of a doubt. I was wrong. I should have left . I witnessed Dr. Gaffney being rude to the staff as well as the patients. She is very rude and unprofessional. Her bedside manners has a lot to be desired. Will not be back. Go elsewhere.

The office needs the carpet cleaned. The staff has no knowledge of what their doing. They had to keep asking questions and interrupting the nurse as she worked with patients. The staff talks out were everyone can hear them. They do not follow up with your labs or any other information pertaining to your visit. When you call they have no idea of what or how to answer your questions. I will not be going there again or recommended anyone. The staff is ghetto and they all need a course on manners and how to work in a office. I'm not sure why the state let's them stay open needs to close them down.They had you a computer and assume you know what to do with it and walks off. What about explaining things to the patient first and what to to ugh no manners. Never saw the doctor then asked when I'm about to leave do you want to see the doctor. What did I come for...... to see a doctor. They don't explain nothing you. Never go there the place sucks and staff is terrible no manners rude need to be… educated and they need to know about their patients.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE!!! My insurance listed this practice being that it is a short commute from my address. And that is the reason I set the appointment up. Needless to say, will never go back. The staff and the doctor are all rude, lazy and unprofessional. VERY GHETTO! What physician wears flip-flops to see patients---Dr. Gaffney does that's who. What physician would critic your 25lbs of being overweight when she (Dr. Gaffney) is about 5'4 weighing well over 400lbs herself. She has horrible bedside manners--she is very rude and unprofessional. The practice is unorganized and dirty. They should really close it down. This review system does not allow anything less than 1 star otherwise I would have given 0 stars.

I had my first, and only appointment with doctor Gaffney recently. I honestly don't know how she is still practicing. This lady is rude, has no compassion, and the worst bedside manner I've ever seen. I spent almost four hours in this office only to speak with her for about 5 minutes. She left the room and sent her nurse back in to tell me I'd need to return in four days. I asked politely if the doctor could come back in for just a moment to answer a couple questions. The nurse went to ask her to speak with me and she wouldn't even take the time to do so. She is a pathetic excuse of a doctor and should not be practicing. Save yourself the trouble and go ANYWHERE but here.
