Dr. Mary Hamaspiour Harton, DO

I gave this doctor a lot of chances to assist me. And I put absolute and 100 complete trust in her process. And on the surface she’s a very polite, it’s a little short an explanation, Doctor Who I think for a person who just need someone to prescribe pills it’s good to go to. I encountered three problems over the course of the pandemic. I sent several emails in regards to those problems and I never received a response through the Adventist Health portal. And the doctor ignored my request when I spoke about them directly. She sort of brush them aside. As I am currently still trying to figure out what is going on with me I maintain the relationship with the doctor so that I had access to the health network. When I had an event that scared me during the pandemic her response was to push me off onto another doctor and prescribe psychiatric medication. When I explain to her the reason why that happened I do not feel that she addressed them. I have since seen a therapist and her… prognosis and recommendations for medication were very wrong. And how they took them I would have been on a medication I did not need. I needed someone to talk to you, I needed attention, and I needed compassionate response and care. In addition I called the office on many occasions because of a bad referral, or because I needed to reschedule something. It would take days sometimes for an assistant to call me back. I have very little interaction with the doctor. I began to feel less confident in her ability. As things progress and we began to move forward she seem to focus on specific symptoms and issues, but did not address my overall concern that there’s something systemically wrong with me, and rather wanted to medicate the symptoms. She did not recommend further tests, she did not suggest other options, she did not offer additional resources, examinations, or studies to figure out what else could be the problem; her solution was pills. I took tests, their staff did not give me proper instruction for the tests. I had to retake tests because of it. The doctor basically stopped talking to me and threw her assistant push that I take medication. I still don’t have a definitive answer as to what is going on with my health, and I refuse to take medication based on an assumption, from a Doctor Who doesn’t pay attention to me, and doesn’t provide for me any precision to come to a precise diagnosis as to why I am experiencing what I’m experiencing. I requested additional tasks, all of those were never addressed and even repeatedly when I had asked for them I still did not receive any attention in regards to those; in fact I began to feel like the doctor was treating me as if I was a nuisance, a bother, and most definitely just a number. I do not recommend Mary Harton at all on any level.

Dr. Harton is the most professional, caring and compassionate doctor I've ever had. My first apt with her was a few months ago and she took her time to get a thorough medical history and listened to my concerns. She did not rush out of the room onto her next apt. She ordered the appropriate labs, gave referrals and later even contacted me with my results. Since then, I have had to see her a few more times and when I needed an urgent appointment, they made sure to see me quickly. If you want a doctor that does not judge and actually cares, she's the one. I am so happy to have found her!

She doesn’t take the time to listen to her patients as she rushes through the appointment. She gave me life threatening advice regarding my health, and undermines any valid concerns. She cares more about her looks, so if you want a doctor who makes sure her appearance is “perfect” go to her because her hair, nails, excessive makeup, and outfit will be done. I feel like I’ve wasted my time, and am switching doctors immediately. Absolutely hands down, the worst doctor I’ve ever been to.

I shared some VERY personal information with her which I thought was confidential but she wrote this scathing report on me that made me sound like degenerate. I felt horrible after I read it and now every time I deal with Kaiser, I feel like they judge me based on this inaccurate report. GO TO ANOTHER DOCTOR..

Absolutely terrible doctor. Does not know how to treat simple illnesses like anemia -- gave me a list of iron-rich foods but deliberately omitted red meat and organ meats, which have the highest amount of heme iron. Within days of trying to follow her directions I was faint 24/7. I contacted her and she refused to admit that red meat has iron, instructing me instead to take an iron supplement. Even though I'd informed her I was already taking one! Rushed through our primary appointment, dismissed most of my health concerns. Flat-out refused to let my husband in the exam room, even though I prefer to have him attend my doctor visits so there's another set of ears. Took one look at the list of what I'd been diagnosed with in the past, and told me that I'd need to see a psychiatrist for a CFS/ME diagnosis. It's a physical illness, not a mental one, and Kaiser itself has a whole page dedicated to explaining it, and on it states, "Having people who believe your diagnosis and support you… is very important. Having a doctor you can trust is critical." You'd think because she's a Kaiser doc she'd know these things, instead of directly contradicting them. Dr. Harton graduated only a few years ago, and I had originally hoped this would mean she was more informed about illnesses like CFS/ME and Fibromyalgia, which have come into the light in the last decade. Unfortunately, it just means she doesn't really know how to treat anything, and is arrogant and dismissive if you have done any research of your own or have an actual medical history. I've been suffering from these illnesses longer than she's had her medical license. If I had followed her instructions, I would have died. I once tried to follow a diet like she recommended, and because of my genetic anemia my hemoglobin fell so low I was rushed to the hospital for a blood transfusion. This time, I stopped when I observed all the warning signs and went back to a heme iron-rich diet. TL; DR: She gives dangerous advice and refuses to listen to her patients. She doesn't know how to treat illnesses, neither common or uncommon.
