Dr. Mary Poor Hill, MD

I had to drive from Selma ca. To Fresno ca just to get a refill on a prescription because no body would answer the phone, I tried to call for 2 days several times but no reply. When I got to her office the door was locked during business hours so I bet on the door until someone opened it and I was able to get my refill. That is uncalled.

She is horrible Dr. She’s been my doctor for over 15 years. Her staff is horrible as well. They hang up on people and they put you on hold because they do not want to talk to you and then hang up. Dr hill has lot per passion for her patients. She is always in a hurry when she sees you. The fact that she has new staff shouldn’t impact the patients but in her office it has. And patients should not be hung up on, in very unprofessional for a doctors office to hang up on people. Every time I go there , I wait one hour in the waiting room then another hour in the exam room and once Dr hill exams you , shes in a hurry and takes ten minutes. Because of all this and all the negligence, I’ve have a new doctor. No more waiting two hours or being hung up on or having to deal with Amanda who is so rude .

I have been going to Dr. Hill for over 15 years, and I always feel comfortable in her presence. She makes sure to keep me informed of my regular needs, but she shines in emergencies. A few months ago I had symptoms that turned out to be esophageal cancer. She made sure that I had all of the necessary tests , and used her influence to connect me with all of the doctors who would be involved in the diagnosis and treatment of my disease. I was one of the first patients at the new Community Cancer Institute in Clovis, and Doctor Hill was instrumental in getting me in earlier than my scheduled time. I had a similar experience a few years back with a ruptured appendix. You could not ask for a better doctor than Dr. Hill.

My attempt to get an appointment with Dr. Hill took 8 months, I was willing to wait based on the referral I needed to obtain a new primary care doctor; and I figured she must be great. I arrived on time for my first thing in the morning appointment, waited over 90 minutes to be moved to an exam room. I was told one patient was ahead of me, there were actually two. I waited in the exam room for nearly another hour before she entered, did not wash her hands, coughed the whole time, and allowed our conversation to establish me as a new patient to be interrupted multiple times. Now, TWO months later, I am still waiting on two specialist referrals, the staff changes, no follow up by the office, and there is no recall of my prior phone calls/follow up requests, and she did not write some orders when I called back for them (her staff said, "doctor does not recall having that conversation with you and did not write the order.") I cannot be in the doctor's office for 3 hours due to bad… time management. The time that I have taken to follow up after my first visit is beyond unreasonable and I could have a serious health concern. The lack of follow through, professionalism, and tendency to run late and forget conversations is enough for me to keep looking for a new primary care physician. Dr. Hill, you simply must do better for your patients, new or old. Your staff turnover seems to be a significant barrier to efficiency and courtesy as well.

Dr. Hill ordered an MRI for my hip because I was having pain. She never got back to me so I took matters into my own hand after two weeks of knowing they had the results, and got the report from the radiology center myself. Shortly after, I got a call from the doctor herself to let me know that I was dismissed from the practice because I was in violation of HIPAA. She said that I was not allowed to look at my own records. I was shocked because I thought HIPAA was there to protect me, the patient. I was made to feel like I was a criminal. I called Health and Human Services in Washington and was told that a patient can never be in violation of HIPAA, only a provider, clearinghouse, or health plan. Needless to say, it was a blessing in disguise to be dismissed. I would not want to be a patient of a doctor who is so controlling and also so neglectful of a patient who is waiting anxiously for test results. Save yourself a headache and find a doctor who will treat you with respect… and get back to you in a timely manner. By the way, I have had excellent relationships with my doctors over the years and have never, ever had an incident like this. I went to Dr. Hill only because my doctor, whom I loved, closed her practice to be a hospice doctor. I miss her!

Mary Hill is an excellent physician but her wait times are ridiculous.

Dr. Hill is a good doctor but it's not worth going and spending two hours every time you have an appointment to see her. Her staff is rude, unprofessional and don't seem to know what they are doing. If you need a prescription filled you better have a month left, they can't get information sent out at a reasonable time. I waited two weeks for mine to finally be sent out and they were rude to me.

Overall Dr. Hill listens to your concerns but it takes an average of two hours to be seen. Staff is terrible! Don't returm phone calls, rude and can't get prescriptions filled.
