Dr. Mary Johnston, MD

Like others before me, I was forced to see Dr. Johnston when my doctor was away. Her bedside manner was atrocious. I was in her office for a UTI but she kept going back to my acne, telling me all the crackpot ways I can “heal myself.” She got visibly angry when I respectfully redirected her, as I was there for a UTI and I see a dermatologist for my acne. After that it was like talking to a wall. She sat with a curt look on her face and then smugly asked “what do you even want?” And I said “to have my urine tested because I have a UTI” she scoffed and said “sure you do” and walked out. The nurse came in immediately, I got my cup, waited, then the nurse came back in, said I had a UTI, and verified my pharmacy. I asked where the doctor went and she said “she said you’re all set.” The woman didn’t even have the decency to come back and show her face. What a horrible experience for something that should have been routine and easy for her. She turned it into easily the worst doctor visit I… have ever had.

Terrible customer service and interpersonal skills. I was due for my 20 week anatomy scan. I came from 2 hrs away & got caught in unexpected traffic half way there. My apt was at 7pm & I arrived at 7:15pm, but she was still seeing a 6:40pm patient so either way I would've had to wait to be seen. She turned us away. My partner & I were so frustrated because we just wanted to know if our baby was OK, it’s our first child so we don’t know what to expect. I returned home unsure when/where I'd be able to get an apt. Worst experience ever.

Arrogant and dismissive.

I was scheduled with Dr. Johnston when my Primary was on vacation. From the minute she walked in- without knocking- she was on the hunt to dismiss me and my symptoms. I was there for dizziness and she spent her time discussing my BMI- which is already under control with my primary doctor. She told me "dizziness when exercising means it's working" when I told her I didn't want to work out when I was dizzy. She told me my symptoms were all in my head and even said the words "you're crazy." After I was thoroughly defeated she left and said "keep working out, it works" as she walked out, And yelled into the hallway "nothing wrong in there." I felt belittled and stupid for being sick. As a 20 something year old woman with debilitating issues such as dizziness, fatigue, tremors, etc, I shouldn't be told its all because "I'm crazy." Especially not by a "professional." There is nothing professional about this woman and her opinion outburst into the hall warrants a call to the NYS Licensing… Board. I hope she never makes another patient in her "care" feel as I did when I left her office.

My experience with Dr. Johnston is totally different than that of the other 2 reviewers. She is a wonderful, caring person. She's spot-on with diagnosing a problem and has no problem referring patients to a specialist if necessary. I have referred several others to her who feel the same as I do.

I was supposed to see her but never seen her. I'm always refered to another doctor. I'm changing my hospital to a better place where I can connect with a doctor and feel human. Not just a "something" to be tossed around!

Her electronic records on me are out of date and completely disorganized. It ends up eating up a good part of the precious little time I am able to see her as patients are backed up like airplanes.
