Dr. Mary Jo Jacobson Kendrick, MD

I went in to have a procedure done that Dr. Kendrick recommended during a previous visit. As she was about to begin, when she told me it would probably leave a scar which is something she didn’t mention on the first visit. I said I didn’t want a scar as it would be right in the center of my cheek and obviously very visible. She then recommended using laser but said she couldn’t do it and I would need to see another doctor. She did nothing to me, so I asked if there would be a charge and she said yes because she consulted me. If she had told me about the laser the first time, I would’ve gone to a place that provided that service without visiting her again. I’m very disappointed and will not return.

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Kendrick since 2012. I met her while hospitalized at Riverside for a bad reaction to Flouracil. She was the Dermatologist on call. She always takes the time necessary to discuss any of our medical concerns and addresses any issues promptly, and if something doesn’t work she will find another treatment option. We both feel that we can have open conversation with her about our medical conditions.

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Kendrick. While she is clearly a very competent physician, her bedside manner is terrible. She talked about me to her medical assistant and then acted like I was being unreasonable when I asked to be directly informed of what she wanted to do before doing a procedure (I had to stop her as she approached with a needle to get her to explain what was happening). She only then offered me a consent form and seemed annoyed that I wanted to read it before signing. It's a good thing I did, because they offered me a consent form for a cosmetic procedure instead of a medical procedure, which would have resulted in a lengthy battle with insurance to get corrected or a big bill for me. At the end, she implied I had been scared of the procedure, which is why I was hesitant, which is not the case. I just wanted to be treated like a person.

We usually see the Physicians Assistant, Stephanie, who is wonderful! Our daughter was recently entered into the iPledge program, which has a 7 day window to get your blood work approved and given the go ahead by the doctors office. If you miss the deadline, you need to start over (30 day wait, blood work, etc). I got the go ahead late in the afternoon on day 7. The local pharmacies do not carry the medicine. When I called into the office after hours, Dr Kerns returned my call promptly but was extremely short and rude! She began our conversation by correcting me, telling me not to call Stephanie a doctor (twice), and that this was not a medical emergency. I was very surprised at how rude she acted towards me! Horrible experience!!

This doctor is one of the best I have ever visited. She thoroughly explained everything and was so quick and efficient. Her staff is amazing. My skin has had some serious sun abuse in the past and she catches EVERYTHING! And she makes me look great! She is worth any amount of wait or co-pay.

This doctor has given up on my problem with tender and hard lumps, hasn't been able to give a diagnosis, and has told me to go elsewhere because she just doesn't know. Isn't able to touch and feel what I'm talking about when friends have been able to touch and feel the lumps. She seems frustrated that I want answers.

She is rude and arrogant. She didn't respect this patient's opinion or needs. Sad thing is...I find this common theme among most dermatologists

Didn't spend a lot of time with us and when asked to do an overall body skin check-up it was so quick and didn't look underneath undergarments.

we ask her to diagnose for skin and do patch test on skin and would not do it.and we have very good ins.we think the hospital over dosed me with iv dye when kindey was not working and she would not do it.now going to new doctor and they are doing the test.
