Dr. Mary Bridget Mackessy, MD

found this doctor to be very thorough and thoughtful when deciding what tests to order and what medications to give. She didn't just randomly order a bunch of tests. She was willing to try multiple things to get my sister's pain under control.

Dr Mackessy seen my husband in the ER on a past occasion for a diagnosis that puts him in the ER pretty often. She refused to give him a medication that works for his diagnosis because one of those medications was a narcotic. Then she refused to give my husband injection imitrex because she said she did not believe my husband was telling the truth about what medications he was on. My husband was just in the ER again (this is about 6 months since his last ER visit which happened to be with her again). She walked in I went through everything with her and she did not even listen to what we had to say she again refused the treatment that would work for him. She said "you know I am not going to give you a narcotic" We explained about the rescue medication he had taken before he came into the ER and she told him he could take another dose in 20 minutes and was going to make him wait to take it. My husband took another injection and then she said that he could not take it for another 12… hours which is what I originally questioned and she said no he can have it in 20 minutes. Since my husband has now taken an overdose she said he just couldn't drive today. That made him miss a days work and come to find out more doses than recommended raises your blood pressure and she didn't even check it before we walked out of there.

Dr. Mackessy argued that because another doctors treatment was not working, that she should not have to treat me, therefore gave me a script for tylenol. I was brought by ambulance to Danbury Hospital less that 15 minutes after Dr. Mackessy refused treatment.
