Dr. Mary Eileen Mccormack, DO

Dr. McCormack took the time out of her busy schedule to fit me in because I called about having a lot of cramping after getting an IUD. She was very thoughtful and kind about the whole situation and ended up having a long conversation with me about what birth control options I have and what might be my best option. She is truly someone you can depend on.

I came to Dr McCormack later in life, after my previous OB/GYN retired. I was concerned I would not find a Dr that would reach the high bar that was set by my previous doctor. I love Dr McCormack's attitude and genuine concern. When I was my biopsy report came back positive for breast cancer, she called me personally to discuss options with me. Dr McCormick recommended getting a second opinion. She guided me to ask the right questions with all of the cancer doctors. I can call Dr McCormick's office with any question and I will receive a return call with a solid answer. She is a wonderful, thorough, skilled doctor with a caring approach.

Dr. McCormack is great! She spends time with you, gives answers to all your questions and gives you the best Ob-Gyn care possible. I would highly recommend her!

I had my first child at 19 (7 years ago 2010). This Dr was perfect! She did not end up delivering my first. With my second I lived in Illinois and drove all the way to see her because I refuse to see anyone else. I was in labor and I drove myself to the hospital. She stayed 2 hours past shift to actually deliver my second child and it could not of gone any smoother. It is very hard to find good Drs now a days. She is definitely the best and I wish she could see me for ALL health concerns. I LOVE her!

She sometimes runs behind but that is because when she is with her patients she tries to give them as much as her time as possible

She is a wonderful doctor. She delivered three of my children.

I saw Dr. McCormack for my first pregnancy and birth. I was happy with my care until I hit that magical 41 weeks, when they try to induce all of their moms. I had a terrible labor and ended up with a traumatic csection. I had no idea that it's completely normal for first time moms to go past 41 weeks. My daughter was fine and had no reason to be born immediately. She wasn't ready and neither was I. I know my due date was wrong and wish I would have fought harder for correct dates. I also wish I had known that I had the right to refuse induction. My instincts told me not to do it but they made me feel like it was routine, that everyone does it, and it's not a big deal (IT IS). They used cervadil and that broke my water and put me into labor, but pushed pitocin anyway. I wish I would've refused. If you choose this practice for your prenatal care, I strongly suggest learning as much as you can (on your own) about induction of labor (methods, pros and cons), how due dates aren't deadlines… (and aren't even really accurate), and how valuable labor support like a doula can be. Take a childbirth class not associated with the hospital. Come to ICAN meetings (find ICAN of NW Indiana on facebook for details) to learn about how to avoid a csection--1 out of 3 births are by cesarean--I thought it would never happen to me, and it did (as it does with so many moms). I hope none of you reading this will have birth trauma like I (and so many other moms) have had. Let baby pick its birthday, be informed, and know your rights.

She does have a dry sense of humor, which I enjoyed. Had wonderful 9 months prenatal with her...until admitted to hospital. Birth plan we talked about in depth and agreed on-out the window, interventions forced down my throat, threatened with c section bc I wasn't "compliant" with a crappy nurse who didn't know her head from a hole in the ground-lost all control of my birth experience. This was a normal, healthy, low risk birth, no reason at all for what had happened to have happened. Great to see for gyn stuff, not so much for ob.

It took many OB appointments to finally find a wonderful doctor. So after like 15 others where tested out, I can save you time and tell you she is the best. She is actually there for all my appointment through both my pregnancies. She's a very smart doctor, and the on the go type, and really can balance a lot. Her sense of humor is dry, so some might not get it, but I like her style, she is funny & will tell you like it is, answer and explain her answers to you. I'm really glad I found her.
