Dr. Mary Frances Mulcahy, MD

My visit with Dr. Mulcahy was productive and informative. She spend time answering my questions and concerns. Her broad based knowledge was reassuring. I recommend her highly.

I would highly recommend Dr Mulcahy, she has been exceptional throughout my treatment process, with taking their time to answer any questions I have and explaining them so we can understand. Usually always on time and responds to messages promptly. She will give everything to you straight based on percentages but I appreciate that more than anything, false hope can bring on stronger depression. Though she would never give timelines or anything like that I believe a doctor should never do that!

If you are about to go through Cancer Treatment and you are looking for an oncologist, this is the last place you want to go. They are always behind schedule, once you see them they are not up to date on your file (you feel like it's the first time they've met you every time), they NEVER call to see how you are doing with regard to side effects, symptoms of treatment etc. and they are highly unorganized! Most of all, they lack compassion. They are so desensitized to what the patient is going through on many levels. If being in a cattle call line for this life altering experience meets your expectation, then proceed with this practice. Otherwise, proceed with extreme caution.

Short visit--almost impossible to get her or he Nurse Practitioner to contact us. We saw Dr Mulcahy ONLY once then the next 2 times we saw her Nurse Practitioner. Dr Mulcahy had said my wife was a stage 4A and a scan would be necessary every 2 or 3 mos. When meeting with the NP she said a scan would only be necessary at the end of 6 mos. A CT SCAN was done and when I asked the NP what it showed she said, "There is some stuff floating around down there but I'm not sure anyone knows exactly what it is." Had to get the copy of the scan from the person that did the infusion. The scan actually showed lesions on her liver and also metastasis on her abdomen wall--I'd say a little more than "stuff" floating around. We switched to an Oncologist in our local town (new state of the art cancer clinic) & he told us the problem was that the NP had notified their clinic my wife was a stage 3--an obvious error and probably why only a scan after 6 mos=local Oncologist told us YES it is a stage 4A and… read to us whet the CT SCAN was showing. He also confirmed CT SCANS would have to be done every 2 or 3 mos NOT at the end of 6 mos!

Good luck hearing back from her on your results. I do not take away the fact that she an intelligent and knowledgeable doctor, and I am sure she is respected by her colleagues, but if you have a loved one with a serious diagnosis, I would stay far away. She shows no compassion, she's ice cold especially if you show up with advanced disease. There are MANY more experienced oncologists you can go to around the country.

Completely complacent Dr.. Please find another practice if you want you or your loved ones to feel NOT feel like a statistic. My mother's MRI results from last month, that showed some SERIOUS health issues were never relayed to her. A month has past and she has not heard from Dr. Mulcahy; She had to hear her unfortunate news from a different doctor. My mother's phone messages to the Dr. Mulcahy still go unanswered. Who knows what has progressed in the last four weeks and will progress as we search for a compassionate Oncologist... Unbelievable .

Dr. Mulcahy is a very knowledgeable, caring physician. While we have to wait sometimes to see her, she never rushes through an appointment, and takes the time to thoroughly answers questions. Her primary concern is the patient's overall well-being. She worked very well with a physician from MD Anderson with whom we sought a second opinion and she oversaw the treatment he prescribed. We attribute 5 year survival in part to her expertise!

Checked out once patient was on hospice. Wouldn't even return a phone call.

Dr. Mulcahy shows no empathy for the patient or their family. Her follow up is all but non-existent. She writes a lot of journals and publications. Perhaps she shoudl stick to that
