Dr. Mary P Sullivan, DO

This is everything that is wrong with the internet. Anyone can spout off any garbage they want and it becomes gospel. Let's get some things straight, before opening her own practice Dr. Sullivan was a Major in the U.S. Army so how many practices could she have just got up and quit since she was in the Army prior to her private practice. Secondly, nobody and I mean nobody has an obligation to keep working a job that isn't paying what their time is worth plus dealing with all the patients who want things for free ie. I called for this or that. Make an appointment. To go one step further Dr. Sullivan SOLD her practice for pennies on the dollar just so patients wouldn't HAVE to find a new doctor. They could see the doctor who took over the practice and if they then chose they could research and find a new doctor. I challenge anyone to tell me of a doctor who cares about the continued care of their patients so much that they would give away the farm for the benefit of the patient, in fact… the practice is still open and functioning today so if anyone wonders why we left the area look no further than the mirror but even so nobody was abandoned. As far as the people who made personal attacks on how Dr. Sullivan dressed or her temperament or professionalism, well perhaps the problem is that we were a primary care office and it sounds like a psych referral would have been more appropriate but that leads us back to that mirror nobody ever wants to look into. After 2012 (approx) Dr. Sullivan switched to Emergency Medicine so the set of issues that come with E.R. vs primary care are completely different and federal law requires a max of 3 days of pain meds be written by non pain management providers which may give a glimpse into some of the complaints about lack of caring but I can tell anyone first hand that she is the most empathetic and clinically sound physician I have ever worked with. When all of the misinformation and displaced anger is corrected Dr. Sullivan is left with nothing but 5 star reviews besides the fact that it's human nature to go on the internet to trash someone rather than give them a compliment. Bottom line is get the real information or the facts before chosing a doctor, not just the ramblings of some unstable people who either don't care if they are wrong or just blatantly lie.

This DO, does not follow-though. She claimed that she would get back to us within the hour, two hours later a shift change occurred and she disappeared. Another DO, presenting herself as an MD. Follow-through is THE sign of competence!

I originally went to her when I hurt my back, after my benefit plan unfortunately ended. My lower back was insanely painful. Ask her for something a strong pain pills. She put me down as a drug seeking addict. Perscribed ibuprofin. The sent me for an x-ray. Call me up 5 day later at 7:30 pm, told me I had a severe Spinal injury. Ends up I ruptured my disc and the vertibrea had shifted forward. I then confronted her about her 1st evaluation probably sarcastically, but I was in severe pain and not a drug addict. She wouldn't give me anything, no response. Evicore just denied my spinal fusion surgery and I am in constant pain, can barely walk. Am furious as well. I do not recommend going to her. I realize there's an issue with pain medications, but I have the condition that meets the criteria. I am stuck with this now on my record, with no indication of drugs from my blood test or urine. Just extreme pain. And she wouldn't write an addendum to her original finding. Even though she… could have. So I am not recommending any one who is human or animal to go seek help from this Person, Dr Mar Sullivan.

If she left a previous practic without notice because whoever owned the clinic didn't want her seeing patients on Friday, I would like to know what her excuse is for leaving this last one. She left a lot of people in trouble. This is pathetic.

Have an appointment at 12? Be thrilled if you make it in by 1:30. Staff was nice. Bonus Points! She up and left her practice in Alabama without so much as contacting her patients.

When a doctor tells you they just don't like to practice anymore...you should run the other way. Dr. Sullivan clearly dislikes her job. She's left her practice and I have no idea where she's gone. I only found out by hearing her talk (very loudly) to another patient in the next room. Meanwhile I was waiting in the notoriously dirty kid's room (trash can filled to overflowing with patients' papers and kleenex, dirty furniture, dirty rug). I had been waiting for almost 2 hours already when I heard her stop in the next room where blood is drawn. She was obviously eating some kind of snack, and just chatting with someone who was obviously a friend. Meanwhile I'm feeling horrible in the next room, waiting on her. They were talking about her new house, her kids, her old house, blah, blah, blah! (And I'm not there on a well-check up; I'm there because I'm sick!) And yet, Dr. Sullivan had not found the common courtesy to tell me she was leaving. When she finally came in the room, she says… "well why are you here?" I told her she called ME to follow up with blood work and another test. Well, your blood work is fine except for ___, which you already know. (NO, I did NOT already know!!!) What about the other test?, I asked. She says, "Oh I don't have it!" I told her the office staff told me that it was on her desk. This is one example of how dysfunctional the whole office is. That day, when I was having blood work drawn (from a very sullen, rude, and obviously ticked off nurse), I asked her if she could tell me when Dr. Sullivan would be leaving. Everyone in that office that day said, "We don't know anything more than you do." WHAT? This made me so mad. They knew perfectly well that she was leaving in 2 weeks! She NEVER told me she was leaving. There are more stories, more than I have time to tell. But this is a shockingly bad doctor. She guesses, talks over the patient, argues and gets angry if the patient (or pharmacist) even suggest or questions anything. She actually raises her voice and gets angry at the people she's supposed to be helping. The entire office gives the clear message that they don't like what they do, and they don't like their patients. They are all rude, impatient, disorganized. Once I called to see if my blood work shows any communicable disease since I felt horrible and I would soon be around infants. They would not say anything except "come in for a follow up." They wouldn't let me talk to Dr. Sullivan. I called 3 times since I was out of town. When I returned to the office finally she told me, "Yes,...you have ___" What??? I called 3 times to check on this so I wouldn't spread anything and your office wouldn't tell me!!! "Well it's probably alright." This was all she could say! She's an unstable person. The darker her hair got, the tighter her pants, the higher her heels...the more bizarre she acted. She came in once and talked glibbly about my son who died of a disease that I have. Then I had to tell her, you have the wrong patient! My son didn't die! I couldn't help but think how horrified I would be if I WERE the patient she thought I was. How insensitive! She commonly told stories about other patients (no names) and all the weird stuff she'd seen. Talker, but not a listener. Another reviewer said to get records. I agree. Long wait, delayed or absent follow-up, lack of courtesy and professionalism of staff and doctor, very bad bedside manner, and lack of careful listening to patients.

Dr. Sullivan is truly an extremely accomplished and caring physician. I have multiple chronic illnesses and she has always been very patient with me - explaining a new medication, asking questions to make sure she understands the problem, talking to me about my lifestyle. It took me a long time to find a doctor like her. However, her office is very disorganized. Her staff doesn't follow through with tasks and is particularly poor in communication. The wait time is abnormally long so I always call and ask before leaving the house. This saves me a lot of time sitting around in the waiting room. Phone calls are not responded to with any degree of regularity and often are either not returned or returned several days later. In spite of all this, I highly recommend this doctor. I feel that it's worth learning to work with the office problems in order to have a doctor that listens and understands me.

My wait today was more than 1 hour...it was 2 hours and 15 minutes. This is a usual case though. We have never gone over 2 hours but hit right at a 2 hour wait multiple times.

I am a registered nurse, and I think Dr. Sullivan is great, and sees the overall picture of the patient. She does not just treat symptoms but cares about prevention and wellness, too. She thinks for herself and does not allow herself to be brainwashed by big pharma and Medical Association. She agreed to give my baby delayed vaccines, so I would not have to bolus his little body and nervous system with over 30 shots in the first year. She has been very attentive to me and is up on the latest treatments and reminds me of Dr.Oz in her integrative approach to medicine. I love her!! Now, I will say I am not impressed with the office staff. There is one nurse who is rude and insensitive. I do like Carla in the office, and she always gets back promptly. I have never met her husband, so I cannot comment on him.

Dr. Sullivan is very short with patients at times and the wait is long, however, her husband rambles and has no idea of what he is talking about. I have sinus infections on a regular basis and Dr. Sullivan was booked so I saw her husband who is supposedly her nurse practitioner. He ran 2 pages of unnecessary blood tests on me costing me over $200 out-of-pocket and that was after my insurance paid their part. The tests were over $1000 in total, all for a sinus infection. He then gave me an antibiotic for my sinus infection. He spent over an hour rambling and he made no sense as if something was wrong with him. I do not go there any longer. It was actually quicker, easier, and believe it or not cheaper to go to Urgent Care.
