Dr. Mary Guerry Tucker, MD

As an infant my son, had severely crossed eyes. Dr. Tucker insisted that our best option was Botox injections to correct my son’s eyes. Several times I asked about the possibility of surgery and she would never acknowledge my question. But I liked Dr. Tucker and I trusted her. My own pediatrician used her for his own child. However, after putting our son through this heartbreaking procedure several times without success we decided to go a different route and went to Virginia Eye Institute. Because timing is VERY critical in young children for hopes of successful eye surgery, we immediately went that route and our son was completely fixed. Thank God I listened to my intuition on this because I remember being in Dr. Tucker’s waiting room and seeing other children with the same condition my son had and hearing their parents discuss that they had also gone through the Botox injection route and had repeated the procedure 8+ times! Obviously it was NOT working. My son was under one… year of age when we first started using Dr. Tucker, but thanks to Dr. Donna Brown at Virginia Eye Institute, my now 21 year old son has completely normal looking eyes and did not need any additional surgery after the first two required at the age of two. This was a long time ago and it is possible Dr. Tucker does not offer the Botox procedure any longer, but I was sickened by the fact that we were part of what felt like a money making scheme because the procedure was not covered by insurance and was very pricey. Trust but VERIFY!!!

EVERYTIME I make an appointment they are running or atleast I have to wait in the waiting room OVER an hour! Then once we are taken back the appointment itself last 5-8 minutes! I would go to another doctor but haven't found another child ophthalmologist.
