Dr. Mary Belle Turner, PhD

When I first saw Dr Turner, I had zero self esteem. I had “learned” for years that I didn’t matter; I wasn’t enough; I was less than what I needed to be. Therefore, I was unnecessary. I had been letting almost everyone in my life reinforce the notions that I was breathing someone else’s air; I was taking up space. The key word being “letting”. Dr Turner never actually gave me the solutions to my problems. Instead, she asked exactly the right questions so that in answering, I found the answers myself. For the longest time, Dr Turner had to deal with me having one crisis after another. She never once lost patience or even her sense of humor. I never left her office that I wasn’t feeling incredibly better. Gradually, I began to realize how much I had to offer the world. I began to see I was an excellent daughter, mother, friend, and really extremely good at my job. I began to understand, just because someone tried to make me feel less than, that was their problem, not mine. Maybe they… were jealous, or threatened by the strength and abilities I actually had. With Dr. Turner I realized no one can take anything away from me unless I let them. I needed stop letting them beat me down and accept what the truth is about me. I’m so much more than I realized and letting someone take that away, was not going to be my MO anymore. I wasn’t listening to anyone but God and myself. And we along with Dr. Turner are a very good team!
