Dr. Maryam Sammet, DO

Dr. Sammet was the anesthesiologist assigned for my moms gallbladder surgery. She is horrible. She came into preop holding to inform my mom that she would die if she had this surgery because she had the flu a week before but she wasn't canceling her. She was going to let her (my mom) make the decision. Scared my mom out of surgery which she needed urgently for an inflammed gallbladder and a blocked bile duct and an angry liver. My mom now has to go to Kansas City to see a specialist because the gallbladder is too hot for the surgeon to operate on. When we asked to talk with the surgeon she made the comment in a very rude tone that he is a surgeon he is going to cut no matter what "that's what they do". She had horrible bed side manner. She was complaining about being on call and being so busy and kept looking at her phone. Her competency is questionable!! Stay away from Capital Region and Dr. Sammet.
