BEWARE our concern is on behalf of the Older Patient. My husband & I came to this practice referred by our PCP for routine colon screening; never treated before; was no history for either of us. We sat in the room at the same time & heard the same thing. We came under the same pretense & past history. We determined that because I asked a question that brought a 1 MIN. response that was NOT related to the routine colonoscopy & amounted to what they offered, they coded my case as diagnostic which carried through to the screening & anesthesia. BEWARE that Coding & Billing is the issue here & we feel any attempt to increase the out of pocket expense of the patient is their goal as using insurance would incur them write-offs. No explanation by phone email etc was provided. Upon visiting the office, he was told to leave & no one would speak to him. Later Billing admitted you need to be careful about what you say or you will be billed for something other than what you were referred… for.
