Dr Mathew Bowen Johnson, MD

I have a rare form of appendix cancer. One in a million cases. My daughter who is a physician sent me to Baltimore Maryland to see the best oncologist surgeon for this rare cancer. I went to the ER due to abdominal pain. Diagnosis went from an ileus (digestive system stopped working) to intestinal obstruction in 24 hours. My daughter lives in Denver. She rushed home after Dr. Johnson gave me a death sentence and told me I should do hospice and basically give up on my life. My daughter called my oncologist rushing home and discovered he had not been consulted by Dr. Johnson for 5 days. Failure to refer outside of his scope. Negligence. Bad energy. He may pray with you to gain your trust, but this general surgeon does not recognize cases outside his scope. My daughter saved my life. She contacted my oncologist who happened to be at the hospital at the same time. She did Dr. Johnson's job and fought for my life. I got transferred to Memphis. I did NOT have an obstruction ...… Digestion worked immediately getting to Memphis. Absolute negligence. Dr. Johnson was WRONG! Even his nurse said she had never seen him so harsh with a patient. I had not had nutrition in 7 days. I almost died from his misdiagnosis. I understand if it is outside of a surgeon's scope. I almost gave up on my life. A surgeon should know when to refer. He was trying to convince me to go home and die. Do not go here! Go to Memphis!! Please learn from my mistake of going to a local rural hospital whose doctors are closed minded and not following the standard of care. Also, a surgeon who did not take his "do no harm" code of ethics oath seriously.

Dr Matt is a WONDERFUL Dr, and the waiting time is well worth it. I'm 41 yrs old. I have had 2 surgeries, 1 for a cyst on my shoulder, and 1 to have my gall bladder taken out, and he did a wonderful job each time. He has a hillarious sense of humor, but I was most impressed with his morals. He is Christian, and he prays with you, before each surgery. I was scared to death, because this was fitst surgery ever, and he held my hand and prayed with me. He always tries to do laser, over cutting, which I like, plus the scarring is soooo much less that way. WONDERFUL WONDERFUL DR!!!!
