Dr. Mathew P Samuel, MD

I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis 26 years ago. I had seen several doctors since then. Dr. Samuel has been the only doctor to talk with me and let me verbalize my goals and expectations in treatments. I’ve seen him for 5+ years and he keeps me working. If not for him and the grace of God, I would have had to give up nursing.

This Man now is affiliated with HIMG in WV. I would NEVER recommend. He is attitude towards his patients is borderline emotionally abusive. Being diagnosed with a chronic illnesses is devastating but having a dr who does not appreciate questions and answers with I’m the dr do as I say or I’ll fire you as a patient or tell you I won’t prescribe you your medicine and see how you deal with the pain. I have many dr and specialist and even worked for a physician never have I experienced or seen this type of care. If I could give negative stars I would.

I highly recommend Dr. Samuel. He has helped me with my sarcoidosis more than other doctors have. He is easy to talk to, explains everything to you until he knows you understand your illness and the way he thinks it should be addressed, treats you with respect, and is very empathetic. Those are attributes that are hard to find in one human being, much less a doctor these days. I can call anytime to ask a question or need to see him or need a refill. His staff are so good to you and easy to talk to. I have never waited for more than 15 minutes when I go to my appts. I have been blessed with other doctors for my other health problems, but now I have another one in Dr. Samuel. I feel like he is my doctor and my friend. You can trust Dr. Samuel.

If I could give no stars, I would. He and his staff are extremely rude and unprofessional. He has no business dealing with people. I had to reschedule an appt due to a family emergency and he cut me off all meds cold turkey and used my next appt to yell at me about what it means to be responsible. When I tried to tell him what had happened he literally told me he did not care and it would not happen again and that he wasn't going to argue then told me to leave. He has no concern whatsoever for you or your health. All he did was lecture me about my acrylic nails and lecture my 13 yr old daughter about her career path. Also get didn't have a clue about lupus .I took in a pamphlet to show my symptom checklist and he grabbed it, threw it away, and told me he didn't need me to tell him my problems. HE was the Dr not me. Complete jerk .

Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr. Samuel for all your help!!! You are the best....and I appreciate you so much! You have done more for my "Lupus" and my "Arthritis" than I could ever imagine and I am deeply grateful !!! You have been my doctor for over twenty years and I hope forever. Linda Cassity

Have been a patient for 18 years. He doesn't believe in unnecessary tests or medication. Would highly recommend.

I have been a patient for 15+ years. Dr Samuel has managed to keep my R.A. under control. He monitors the effect the meds have on my body to make sure they are not harming me in any way. Anytime I have a question or problem I know I can call the office and Dr. Samuel or Angie will take care of it.

I have been seeing Dr. Samuels for about 12 years. I was in so much pain that I could hardly move. My hands and feet had already started to be non functioning. I thought my life was over. I had been misdiagnosed for over two years and the damage had already started to take affect. Dr. Samuels took the time to examine me, do the necessary testing and blood work and listened to what I had been trying to explain to my family physician for years. He diagnosed me with Psoriatic Arthritis and prescribed me Enbrel. He never prescribed me narcotics of any kind, no matter how much pain I thought I was in. He told me to get up and keep those bones moving, in which I did and lost 100 pounds. I have never felt better in my whole life and I have no one to thank other than Dr. Samuels and his wonderful Nurse Angela who will do whatever it takes to help you.

Dr. Samuels has been an excellent physician for me. I have been going to him for over ten years. He saved my life.

First visit terrible. I've never been treated so rudely in my life my by a health care professional. Will not return, was not receptive to anything other than I was pain medication seeking and wanted to diagnose immediately with fibromyalgia. I have private insurance, and will seek help elsewhere.
