Dr. Mats Agren, MD

Dr Agren did a spinal decompression on me in 2007 at L4-L5. This resulted in immediate relief from numb legs due to a pinched nerve in my spine. Before: I could walk at most about 400' and then had to sit down and stretch for a while before I could walk a little again. After: I was walking 1-4 miles a day while the incision healed (2-3 weeks) and then I could walk and hike unlimitedly. Then in 2019 Dr. Agren needed to do another spinal decompression on me at L2-L4. Same result. I regard it essentially as a miracle. Dr. Agren diagnosed the situation accurately and quickly and did a fine job to rectify the situation

Worst bed side manner stood at door with hand on knob like he didn’t have the time to explain surgery. Then took over a week to finish the notes so the other doctors could finish needed care and schedule appts. I wouldn’t recommend him at all.

Mats Agren changed my life with a successful and complicated back surgery. 5 years later and I’m doing great!

After L4/L5 surgery I was diagnosed with Adhesive Arachnoiditis. Dr. Agren called only to say 'It's not our fault'. He then hung up and dropped me as a patient. In my opinion he is far from compassionate.

Attempted for 2 weeks to make an appointment. No one called me back. Turns out that Dr. Agren had reviewed my MRI and did not wish to see me. Could not even bother to let me know. With that attitude, would one really want him to operate on you?

Recommended in 2000 by my Family doc, he dicovered I had scoliosis and bad disc in my lower back. He would not do surgery until I gave the OK. He.has done two small discectomies and upper and lower fusions 2009 & 2013. He kept in constant touch with my wife in 2009 during a coma when my spine bled profusely from being porous. He worked12 hours in surgery until I was stabilized and saved my life, hence my Hero.i alway felt like a special patient to him. He did my second surgery a lower fusion in2013 with no complications and released me in 2015 if you need me call me. I admire this man and for all he did for me. Thank you Dr. Agren, my friend.

Dr Agren took about ten minutes to diagnose spondilithesis in my lower back, taking the time to explain why I had the pain I did..for so long. He performed surgery; fusion, which has changed my daily lie.
